2004 年《南通市高三調(diào)研考試》卷子里，有這樣一道題：
Mrs Black went back to _________ place ________ she had found the diamond.
A. the same， where B. the same， as
C. the same， that D. as the same， as
答案是 B .可是在張道真編的《現(xiàn)代英語用法詞典》 P1231 same 詞條中有這樣的例句： He went back to the same place where he had found the ring. 在這個句子里， the same 是 place 的定語， where 引導的是一個修飾 place 的定語從句。南通試卷里的這道題和這個例句如出一轍，所以我認為選項 A 也不錯。
下面我們探討一下 same 的用法。
一 . same 前面通常要加定冠詞 the .例如：
at the same time； all the same； just the same.
They arrived here on the same day.
二 . the same as / to /with …的用法。
1. the same as …意為“和……一樣”，與 be different from 的意思相反。例如：
Your opinion is the same as mine.
不能說： Your opinion is the same as me / I.
2. the same to …意為“對于……是一樣的”。例如：
He has been always the same to me.
在情景對話中， the same to 經(jīng)常用來回復別人對自己表示的祝愿。例如：
－ Happy New Year！
－ The same to you.
3. the same with …意為表示“……也一樣”。例如：
（ 1 ） It is the same with men as with plants.
（ 2 ） One should speak clearly and it is the same with writing.
三 . “ the same + 名詞”后面的定語從句通常由 as / that 引導。
1. the same … as …意為“正如……一樣”， as 的先行詞可以是人也可以是物。
2. the same … that …強調(diào)是指“同一個人或事物”。例如：
This is the same pen as I bought yesterday.
這和我昨天買的筆一樣。
This is the same pen that I bought yesterday.
這就是我昨天買的那支筆。
She is the same girl that came yesterday.
昨天來的就是這個姑娘。
as 和 that 在定語從句中作賓語時，也可以省去。例如：
He wants to buy the same coat I wore yesterday.
四 . the same as …中的 as 除了可用作關(guān)系代詞，在從句中充當主語、賓語、表語外，還可用作關(guān)系副詞，在定語從句中作狀語。例如：
（ 1 ） I shall do it in the same way as you did it.
（ 2 ） Meet me at the same place as you did yesterday.
五 . same 作定語修飾先行詞時，該名詞后面除了可以接 who， that， as 引導的定語從句外，還可以接 where， when， which 等引導的定語從句。例如：
（ 1 ） He got there at the same time when I did.
（ 2 ） Put the book back in the same place where you found it.
（ 3 ） We met at the same park， which we visited two years ago.
（ 4 ） The caller is the same man who was here yesterday.
（ 5 ） He went home， the same evening that he heard the news.
（ 6 ） We drove out of the town by the same road as we had entered by.
六 . 在“ the same ＋名詞”后面跟定語從句，而且從句的謂語動詞與主句的謂語動詞相同時，從句中的謂語動詞常常省略。如果后面的定語從句是省略形式，則需用 as 引導。例如：
（ 1 ） They do the same work as I （ do ） .
（ 2 ） Your idea is the same as mine （ is ） .
