有這么一些詞匯，看起來(lái)簡(jiǎn)單，然而你卻始終記不住。不為別的，只為它與另一個(gè)它長(zhǎng)得實(shí)在太像了!
accident/incident
▌accident：突發(fā)性的，一般為不幸事件，即“事故”。
traffic accident 交通事故
▌incident：小的變數(shù)、插曲，小事件，沒(méi)accident那么嚴(yán)重。
an international incident 一次國(guó)際事件
continuous/continual
▌continuous：持續(xù)不斷的，且可以做表語(yǔ)和定語(yǔ)
continuous pain 持續(xù)的疼痛(疼痛一直有)
▌continual：中間有間隔的重復(fù)，只能做定語(yǔ)
continual improvements in technology 技術(shù)上的不斷進(jìn)步(進(jìn)步是間隔性的)
considerate/considerable
▌considerate：體貼的，考慮周到的
Be a good neighbor, be considerate of those living around you.
做一個(gè)好鄰居，體諒周圍的人。
▌considerable：相當(dāng)大的，值得尊敬的，重要的
We took a considerable length of time to decide.
我們花了好長(zhǎng)時(shí)間才決定。

electric/electrical
▌electric：電的，用電的，帶電的，指任何電動(dòng)的或發(fā)電的裝置，被修飾的物體本身可帶電。
electric light 電燈
Please connect the two electric wires.
請(qǐng)將這兩根電線接起來(lái)。
▌electrical：電的，與電有關(guān)的，電氣科學(xué)的，指與電有關(guān)的事物，被修飾的詞本身并不能帶電。
electrical engineer 電氣工程師
All the electrical work was done by my younger brother.
所有的電工活都由弟弟來(lái)干。
He buried himself in an electrical book.
他埋頭讀一本電學(xué)方面的書。
ensure/insure
▌表示“保證”的意思，兩者通用，英國(guó)人愛(ài)用ensure，美國(guó)人愛(ài)用insure。
Our precautions ensured/insured our safety.
預(yù)防措施保證了我們的安全。
▌表示“保險(xiǎn)”的意思，用insure。
After signing a contract with a professional baseball team, Jack decided to insure his pitching arm for $1 million.
和職業(yè)棒球隊(duì)簽約后，杰克決定為他投球的手臂投保100萬(wàn)美元。
historic/historical
▌historic：歷史上著名的，具有歷史意義的。強(qiáng)調(diào)的是事件本身具有的重大意義。
historic sites 歷史遺跡
▌historical：歷史上的，有關(guān)歷史的。強(qiáng)調(diào)某個(gè)事件曾經(jīng)的的確確發(fā)生過(guò)。
historical figures 歷史人物
lie/lay
▌lie：說(shuō)謊;躺，位于。
——作“說(shuō)謊”的意思
過(guò)去式，過(guò)去分詞，現(xiàn)在分詞分別是：lied, lied, lying
——作“躺，位于”的意思
過(guò)去式，過(guò)去分詞，現(xiàn)在分詞分別是：lay, lain, lying
He lay under a tree to sleep.
他躺在樹(shù)下休息。
▌lay：放，擱;下蛋。過(guò)去式，過(guò)去分詞，現(xiàn)在分詞分別是：laid, laid, laying
The dog laid its ears back.
小狗把耳朵耷拉下來(lái)。
relation/relationship
▌relation有以下幾個(gè)意思
——指最寬泛意義上的“關(guān)系”時(shí)，relation和relationship同義。
the relation/relationship between smoking and heart disease
吸煙和心臟病之間的關(guān)系
——親戚。同義詞：relative。
She was a distant relation of my wife.
她是我老婆的遠(yuǎn)房親戚。
subject/object
▌object：(n.)目標(biāo)，物體，客體，賓語(yǔ);(某情感或反應(yīng)的)對(duì)象;(v.)反對(duì)。它的形容詞形式為objective，意為“客觀的，目標(biāo)的”。objective還可以作名詞，意為“目標(biāo)，目的”。
become an object of derision 成為嘲笑對(duì)象
▌subject：(n.)主體，科目，主語(yǔ);(批評(píng)、研究或調(diào)查的)對(duì)象(v.)使……隸屬;使屈從于，通常與to連用。它的形容詞形式為subjective，意為“主觀的，個(gè)人的”。
a subject of conversation 對(duì)話主題
sensitive/sensible
▌sensitive：敏感的、感覺(jué)的、易受影響的，tive一般表特性。
a sensitive topic 敏感話題
▌sensible：明智的、合乎情理的、通情達(dá)理的、意識(shí)到的、能感覺(jué)到的，able一般表能力。
a sensible young woman 明智的姑娘
sensible of his fault 意識(shí)到他的錯(cuò)誤
special/specific
▌special：特別的，強(qiáng)調(diào)特別、與眾不同
a special friend 特殊朋友
▌specific：特定的，強(qiáng)調(diào)限制性
His specific problems got him into trouble.
他特有的問(wèn)題使自己陷入麻煩。
stuff/staff
▌stuff：東西、材料、素材
Put that stuff over there.
把材料放在那兒。
▌staff：職員
the nursing staff of a hospital
醫(yī)院的護(hù)士們
technology/technique
▌technique：技巧、技能、技術(shù)、技藝。更具體，指某項(xiàng)技術(shù)。
a pianist with superb technique 技術(shù)精湛的鋼琴家
▌technology：科技(總稱)、工業(yè)技術(shù)、工藝學(xué)。更抽象，指成系統(tǒng)的一種科技大類。
information technology 信息技術(shù)
transfer/transmit
▌transfer：轉(zhuǎn)移，調(diào)任，轉(zhuǎn)讓，側(cè)重點(diǎn)是轉(zhuǎn)移(某物)
He transferred the package from one hand to the other.
他把包裹從一只手換到另一只手。
I transferred from Rutgers to Tulane.
我從羅格斯大學(xué)調(diào)任到杜蘭大學(xué)。
▌transmit：傳輸，傳導(dǎo)，發(fā)射，側(cè)重點(diǎn)是傳送(信號(hào))
Glass transmits light.
玻璃能傳播光。
