最近兩周林書豪 (Jeremy Lin) 可謂是不折不扣的媒體大紅人(lin-sensational),一夜之間他從一個默默無聞的(underdog)華裔NBA球員變成紐約Madison Square Garden的主人。他有多“牛” ( lin-sanity) 相信同學(xué)們都已知道，但是今天讓我們換個角度來看“林瘋狂 --- Linsanity”!
教學(xué)雅思口語這些年被學(xué)生們問到過最多的問題就是 --- 怎樣才能在口語考試中有效使用高分的詞匯，從而提高自己的分?jǐn)?shù)?但實(shí)際情況卻是背過練習(xí)過的好詞好句到了考場上完全想不起來。那么為什么會有這樣的情況呢?今天我就嘗試用這兩周國外各大媒體對“linsanity” 的報(bào)道來解答這個困擾考生們的問題。
口語學(xué)習(xí)誤區(qū)一：口語就是把中文思維翻譯成英語!--- translation works?
真的是這樣嗎?我們不妨一起來做幾個翻譯練習(xí)，看看你的英語用詞native speaker的有什么不同。
練習(xí)1：媒體采訪林書豪，說奧巴馬(Obama)總統(tǒng)也是你的粉絲了，你對這么多人喜歡你有什么感想。林書豪說他很榮欣，愧不敢當(dāng)，感覺有些受寵若驚。你會怎么用英語表達(dá)呢?思考3秒鐘，來看一下Jeremy Lin(林書豪)的原話。
l Lin said he was “very honored and very humbled” to hear it. “I mean, wow, the president,” he said. “Nothing better than that.” And I’m a little overwhelmed right now,” Lin said with a smile. --- CBS 的報(bào)導(dǎo)，你會想到用humbled (愧不敢當(dāng)) 和 overwhelmed (受寵若驚的) 這兩個單詞嗎?

練習(xí)3：媒體賽后采訪德安東尼(D’Antoni –紐約尼克斯的教練)，問他對林書豪場上表現(xiàn)的評價(jià)，德安東尼說林有組織后衛(wèi)的頭腦，你會怎么用英語表達(dá)呢?思考3秒鐘，來看一下D’Antoni的原話。

口語學(xué)習(xí)誤區(qū)二：用詞越難越好!--- beefing up the sentence?
最近，有位學(xué)生和我說他迷上了美劇“生活大爆炸”(the big bang theory), 因?yàn)樗X得里面三個主人公的英語口語詞匯超牛, 有很多他以前背過的“BIG WORDS”，他希望自己的英語口語可以和他們說的一樣。
這樣真的合適嗎?和這部美劇里的主人公一樣，林書豪也是名校畢業(yè)的“nerd (書呆子)”但他的口語詞匯非但不難，簡直就是小學(xué)詞匯，我們先來看一段林書豪的答記者問。

Tips: 口語詞匯最關(guān)鍵的是地道自然，不要為了難而難，否則影響考官理解，反而得不償失。其實(shí)“生活大爆炸”(the big bang theory) 中的三個人并非“正常人”，誠然他們的口語是高分的，但并不適合我們同學(xué)去模仿，林書豪的口語才是我們應(yīng)該參考并且可以達(dá)到的模板。
