first, i would like to know, what does your destiny offer you? happiness, wisdom, a strong body or something else. if i had asked this question to president nixon, he would probably had said,“our destiny offers not the cup of despair, but the chalice of opportunity.
”needless to say, one of the biggest opportunities given to china is the 2014 olympic games. till now, we have used two sevenths of the preparation time. how much changes have you seen?
new roads, new subway lines, public-exercising equipments with beautiful colors, large blocks of grass fields, and also lots of modern gyms which are under construction.
other than those, there are even more good effects brought to us by the olympic games that cannot be seen directly. for example, more and more people will get to know china. i’m sure the mysterious chinese culture will attract them strongly.
and the games will also do good to the economy and environment, for it is gaining the attention of foreign investors and the awareness of environmental protection is being strengthened. what is more, olympic games give a unique opportunity to inspire and educate a new generation of chinese youth with the olympic values and the olympic spirit. now that we have seen so many advances, could you even imagine us losing the holding rights?
i’ve already said a lot about the olympics and china. but i think everyone should use some time to think of this question, “does the olympic games have any special meaning to you?”
for us, i mean the chinese youth, 2014 olympic games is a tremendous gift. because what we are waiting for is to do something significant as repaying the love given to us .the society is just like a ship, and in our dreams the captain is waving his hand and saying “hey!
***e here and take the helm! ”how charming his voice is, but we have never heard of it in our true life. this morning, however, when we wake up, we will see the olympic games waving its hand.
after chewing, most of us will have at least one plan about what to do for the olympic games. and mine is to be a “***forter” ----that is someone who will give ***fort to others.
at the end of my speech, i hope all the preparation will go well, and everyone will show their ability to the world. let us seize opportunities and give a big **ile to challenges.

the spirit of cooperation starts with cooperative learning. cooperative learning, can increase the learning interest, accepting a different point of view, so that we can think in more ways in learning.
problems can be easily solved by sharing different ideas and mutual discussion. learning in groups, students not only can get encouragement from each other but also learn how to care and help others. with an opening mind to learn from others and listen to others which makes everybody care about the groups.
when students put their ideas together, learning is no longer difficult task.

gettysburg addressfour score and seven years ago, our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. we are met on a great battlefield of that war.
we have ***e to dedicate a portion of the field as a final resting-place for those who here gave their lives that the nation might live. it is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this. but in a larger sense we cannot dedicate, we cannot consecrate, we cannot hallow this ground.
the brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it far above our poor power to add or detract. the world will little note, nor long remember, what we say here, but it can never f***et what they did here. it is for us, the living, rather to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced.
it is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us, ----that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion, ----that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain, ----that this nation, under god, shall have a new birth of freedom, ----and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.

i have had a lot of teachers in my school who have given me much help in my study. for their help i will never f***et them. but today i am going to talk about a special teacher of mine.
this teacher is not a human being and its name is“***puter”. it has been teaching me a lot of knowledge and i appreciate it very much.
with the development of modern science and technology, ***puters are widely used in every teritories (1) including education. how can a ***puter be my teacher? how does a ***puter teach me?
**********(多**)helps a lot in this aspect in recent years, and ***puter-based training (cbt) has be***e a popular educational medium (手段). even before the ********** ***e (2) up, many different learning systems appeared, using the ***ponents and techniques we now associate with the term “**********”. ********** ***ponents, such as graphics (動畫) , animations , sound and video, make the learning process easier through visualization.
animations can present many ***plex subjects dynamically, but human teachers can not do this on blackboards. ********** makes our study more lively and interesting. for example, a cd-rom disk named “encarta encyclopedia” contains 650 mb information including images, graphics, music clips, video clips, animations , texts, hotwords, and database search functions.
fields involved includes physical sciences, performance arts, social sciences, politics, military, education and so on. when pressing a button, i can hear american president clinton’s speech clip. i may enjoy playing all kinds of musical instruments in the world.
i can also see the animation of many physical phenomena. this makes physical concept to be understood deeply (3). the audio features of ********** can greatly help me learning (4) foreign languages.
with its speech output capabilities, i’m no longer dependent on an instructor for proper pronunciation.
how can i interact with a ***puter? there are many ways, including keyboard, mouse pointer, and touch screen. i often use a keyboard.
when i press right keys, i can see and hear whatever i want. information world is at my fingertip. i wish that true speech input-output system would be invented one day.
as teachers, ***puters have a lot of virtues: they are positive, they have good memories and never lose any information stored in them. they have much knowledge in every field.
they can let out all kinds of sounds, and can also improve the efficiency of our study. for example, if i want to, i can skip some chapters so that i can study at my own pace.
although ***puters will never take the place of human teachers, they are wel***ed by more and more learners. ***puters will continue to evolve(發(fā)展)with the aid of modern technologies. ***puters are so powerful, helpful and important that everybody needs it, especially in the future!
i love my ***puter teacher!
thank you.

friendship
every one of us, rich or poor, should at least have one or two good friends. my friends will listen to me when i want to speak, will wipe my eyes when i cry, will take care of me when i am sick, and my friends will go together with me side by side through this journey of life.
as students, we could share more time with our friends. the friendship in our young hearts is pure, fresh and ******. i often feel very lucky to have a lot of good friends.
especially when i had justin as one of my best friends. justin was my english teacher from the usa. i met him in 1996 when i was a student who could only speak very little english.
justin was a vivid young man with a bright **ile on his face, and he always had his special way to make the class active and attractive. he taught us english by telling stories, playing games, singing songs, and even dancing. i could still remember very clearly that one afternoon when we fin-ished our class, we went to some other classes to sing songs for them, just like what people do in the states on christmas eve.
it was so interesting and unf***ettable. justin was an excellent teacher, because he taught us not only how to study english well, but also the way to find out the beauty of the world and the way to be angels to others' lives. i know there was friendship and pure love in our hearts.
facing this valuable emotion neither nationality nor age was important, the real importance lay in faith, under-standing, and care. justin is the best friend i have ever had, and i know i will cherish those days of staying together with him as the best part of my memory.
friendship is a kind of treasure in our lives. it is actually like a bottle of wine, the longer it is kept, the sweeter it will be. it is also like a cup of tea.
when we are thirsty, it will be our best choice, but when we have enough time to enjoy ourselves, it is also the most fragrant drink.
however, in this fast-developing modern society, the reality is not that. more and more people f***et to enjoy the beauty of life and -the beauty of friendship. they work hard in order to gain a higher position, in the society and to earn more money for their work.
of course, we don't deny that it is important to find a bet-ter place in our lives, but we wish more and more people could pay a little more attention to themselves and their friends. all of us have to spare some time for personal lives. we have to find the chance to express our emotion and love.
when staying with our friends, we can release ourselves ***pletely. we can do whatever we want, we can laugh together, talk together, and even cry to-gether. i should say that being together with our best friends is the most wonderful moment of our lives.
as we know, we would feel lonely if we didn't even have a friend. but it doesn't mean we could depend on our friends all the time. there is a famous motto saying that “a friend is like a quilt with cotton wadding, but the real thing that keeps you warm is your own temperature.
” it is really true. we have to work hard together with our friends, encourage each other and help each other. when we receive love and friendship, we should repay as much as we can.
finally, let's pray together now that one day, all of us could find the person we want to find, and could enjoy a real beautiful friendship in our lives. let's pray the flower of friendship be-tween our friends and us would always bloom brightly in our hearts
my dream
when i was a naughty boy, may be because of the influence of the film."xiao bing zhang ga",my dream was to be a soldier just like zhang ga. i thought if i was a soldier, i should be able to swim, dive and climb trees as he did.
it seemed to be very wonderful. so i began to learn swimming, diving and climbing trees. i practiced every day and finally i could do them well.
but when i entered junior high school and had the military training. i suddenly found that being a soldier was very difficult and i wasn’t strong enough to bear it . i had to give my dream up.
but i wasn’t discouraged, and i had new aim, which was to be a postman, or rather to be a news***** boy. as a news***** boy. i could speed along streets on a bike and throw news*****s onto every porch.
that’s also very cool. so i started learning to ride a bicycle. after the everyday practice, i could go very fast by bicycle.
but to my disappointment, the job which i wanted only existed in western counties not in china, because there was no porch in china. and chinese postmen had to stuff very thick news*****s into very **all mailboxes from very narrow entrances. the job was far from what i had expected.
so once again my dream fell through. perhaps you have had the same experience as i and most of your dreams haven’t ***e true yet. but i think it doesn’t matter, because if you have a dream, you’ll make many efforts to realize it.
this course is really important. if i hadn’t dreamt of being a soldier or a news***** boy. i wouldn’t have learned to swim, to dive, to climb trees or to ride a bicycle.
even if our dream can’t ***e true, you’ll learn much from the efforts you have made. so what i want to tell us is that dream helps us to grow up and teaches us how to control our lives . it is dream that gives us power and makes our lives colorful .

when i sat at the desk, trying to write the essay, i found it hard to set pen to *****. staring at the topic i deliberately chose for myself "my mother", i felt the memory of 20 years with my mother suddenly turned into a haze, blurring my eyes to discern the past, with nothing towering, nothing flaring, nothing impressive or special enough as a landmark. the haze gradually cleared away, revealing the image of an amicable woman.
i recalled a line from the famous movie "sleepless in seattle". the radio column hostess asked sam, "what's so special about your wife?" he answered, "that's millions of **all things.
" right, trivial and ***monplace, like obscure beans, yet woven into the most spectacular necklace by the power of love. my mother is ordinary, but in my eyes she is special.
dear everyone. good evening, everyone! throughout my years of being a student, i’ve had many teachers. none of them
are the same, but the one that i’ll never forget and will always miss is my chinese
bilingual teacher in the middle school i attended in seattle, ms. ho. she was a skinny,
but stylish lady in her 50s. she was different from all the other teachers because
she gave me something unforgettable. today, i still keep in touch with her, and she still tells me how she believes
in me. sometimes, i’d think back, and wonder how i could handle all those things
if it wasn’t for her encouragement and trust. could i be the person i am today? then,
it struck me: what we need has always been trust and love of others; because these
things inspire us to do our best, and to live our life to its fullest. to sum up, i’d like to say to all of you: let us all appreciate trust and love
of others and achieve our full potential in our life!
