布朗大學(xué)數(shù)據(jù)科學(xué)碩士（Data Science Initiative，縮寫DSI）項(xiàng)目是布朗大學(xué)新開設(shè)的交叉學(xué)科項(xiàng)目，由數(shù)學(xué)、應(yīng)用數(shù)學(xué)、生物統(tǒng)計(jì)及計(jì)算機(jī)科學(xué)四個(gè)系共同開設(shè)。該項(xiàng)目旨在提供對(duì)數(shù)據(jù)科學(xué)方法和算法的基本理解，通過(guò)研究數(shù)學(xué)、統(tǒng)計(jì)學(xué)和計(jì)算機(jī)科學(xué)的相關(guān)主題來(lái)實(shí)現(xiàn)，包括機(jī)器學(xué)習(xí)、數(shù)據(jù)挖掘、安全和隱私、可視化和數(shù)據(jù)管理。

項(xiàng)目沒(méi)有設(shè)置固定的先修課程，希望申請(qǐng)者有一定的數(shù)學(xué)、統(tǒng)計(jì)和計(jì)算機(jī)背景，建議至少學(xué)習(xí)過(guò)1年的微積分，1學(xué)期的線性代數(shù)，1學(xué)期的概率論與統(tǒng)計(jì)，以及一門計(jì)算機(jī)編程語(yǔ)言課程。如果申請(qǐng)者特別出色，缺少先修課程也可以被錄取
