    申請(qǐng)英國(guó)研究生留學(xué)的同學(xué),肯定對(duì)套磁二字并不陌生。那么套磁信要怎么書(shū)寫(xiě)呢?今天出國(guó)留學(xué)網(wǎng)小編帶大家一起來(lái)了解下。
    首先來(lái)看看套磁信的書(shū)寫(xiě)格式。
    套磁要有一定的針對(duì)性,對(duì)你本專(zhuān)業(yè)方向有可能的導(dǎo)師是哪些心中有數(shù)。選定意向?qū)熤缶涂梢蕴状帕?,向?qū)煂?xiě)郵件表達(dá)讀博愿望,郵件內(nèi)容盡量簡(jiǎn)潔、明了,介紹學(xué)生基本情況,感興趣的研究方向和計(jì)劃,學(xué)生的研究成果等信息。
    第一段,簡(jiǎn)單一兩句話(huà)介紹自己的背景,然后說(shuō)明自己寫(xiě)這封信的用意。這里介紹自己的背景一定要把自己背景中的最亮的點(diǎn)概括出來(lái)。
    另外,要在開(kāi)頭就說(shuō)明自己這一封信的用意。這是中國(guó)學(xué)生往往不太習(xí)慣的。但是在信的開(kāi)頭就說(shuō)明你想干什么卻是美國(guó)人慣用的思路和方式。
    第二段書(shū)寫(xiě)中,盡量要表達(dá)自己對(duì)于對(duì)方所作的科研的興趣和看法,結(jié)合自己的背景來(lái)談,找出匹配的點(diǎn)來(lái),并且結(jié)合要申請(qǐng)項(xiàng)目的導(dǎo)師的需求來(lái)談。比如導(dǎo)師在做一個(gè)什么方向,你也有類(lèi)似的經(jīng)歷,那這就是一個(gè)很好的結(jié)合點(diǎn)。
    另外,要盡可能得寫(xiě)出一些有深度的看法來(lái)。這段的內(nèi)容也是套磁信的核心,所以要想寫(xiě)好第一封套磁信,必須是在看了很多教授所發(fā)表的論文或者在做的項(xiàng)目或者之前做過(guò)的研究,深入挖掘之后才可以。
    第三段,重點(diǎn)介紹自己的背景中比較值得說(shuō)的經(jīng)歷。概括一下自己的背景,要遵循一個(gè)原則就是,你能帶給對(duì)方什么。假如對(duì)方錄取你,你能給他的項(xiàng)目組帶來(lái)什么。
    最后,建議把最近更新后的CV以附件形式附上,或者是有自己比較全面的個(gè)人主頁(yè)的鏈接放上去也是可以的。
    接著來(lái)看看注意事項(xiàng)。
    1. 不要在同一個(gè)系里同時(shí)套兩個(gè)教授。如果你在一個(gè)系里廣撒網(wǎng),可能造成這樣一個(gè)后果,兩個(gè)老師在同一個(gè)系,是好朋友,結(jié)果呢,他們都同時(shí)收到了你的來(lái)信,他們會(huì)認(rèn)為,你這個(gè)學(xué)生不太靠譜,只是亂撒網(wǎng),沒(méi)有一點(diǎn)目的性。
    2. 在套磁之前首先要熟悉教授的研究工作(包括閱讀教授論文,看教授正在做的項(xiàng)目)。如果你只是單純的看了點(diǎn)research summary就去套磁,假如教授真的對(duì)你有意想迅速和你建立更深入的聯(lián)系,和你探討點(diǎn)學(xué)術(shù)問(wèn)題,那就囧了,所以有時(shí)間的話(huà),還是多看點(diǎn)教授的文章,豐富一下自己對(duì)教授研究方向的認(rèn)識(shí)。
    3. 套磁最有效的方法是探討學(xué)術(shù)上的問(wèn)題,不要空泛的只說(shuō)你對(duì)他的研究多么有興趣。這一點(diǎn)和中國(guó)學(xué)生寫(xiě)PS一樣,很容易犯“假,大,空”的毛病。所以,我們一定要腳踏實(shí)地,多讀些文章,結(jié)合自己的研究興趣和老師進(jìn)行探討。
    4. 不要指望每個(gè)教授都會(huì)回復(fù)你的套磁信,教授的工作都很忙,而且每年這個(gè)時(shí)候他們每天 都會(huì)收到很多這樣的套磁信(據(jù)了解,一位教授每天收到的郵件近 100 封),因此能夠有十分之一的回復(fù)已經(jīng)很不錯(cuò)了。但是,最好等兩周沒(méi)有回復(fù)之后再寫(xiě)信去提醒一下,不可以過(guò)于急躁。教授會(huì)收到大量的郵件,不回復(fù)的原因可能會(huì)有很多,比如出差,病假,退休,對(duì)你不感興趣,不招生,離職等等。所以,要耐心等待,實(shí)在沒(méi)有回信,只能另尋他家。
    5. 套磁最適用于成績(jī)不突出但研究工作很不錯(cuò)的情況。因此,當(dāng)你的成績(jī)很高但是研究工作一般時(shí),套磁并不會(huì)有太大收獲。教授最喜歡的學(xué)生,不僅僅是學(xué)習(xí)好的,如果你的科研能力很出色,你的成績(jī)稍微差一點(diǎn)沒(méi)有關(guān)系,剛剛達(dá)到3.0以上的GPA,去名校讀理工科的PhD也大有人在。
    6. 盡量爭(zhēng)取和教授面對(duì)面或者電話(huà)交流的機(jī)會(huì),這樣比 email 要直接有效的多。套磁的一個(gè)重要目的就是爭(zhēng)取面試的機(jī)會(huì),電話(huà)、視頻都行,一來(lái)可以證明你的英語(yǔ)聽(tīng)說(shuō)能力,二來(lái)可以展示你的人際溝通能力,三來(lái)可以進(jìn)行學(xué)術(shù)上的探討。可以增大你被錄取的概率。
