1.代指前面提到過的事物
This is not my book. It’s Jim’s.
2.用來代替指示代詞this或that
--What’s this? -- It’s a pencil.
3. 指嬰兒或不明身份的人
Someone is knocking at the door, please go and see who it is.
4.指時間或季節(jié)
--What’s the time now? --It’s ten o’clock.
5. 指天氣
--What’s the weather like today? --It’s sunny.
6.指距離
How far is it from your school to your home?
7. 用作形式主語
1)It is + adj. + for/of sb. to do sth. 對某人來說做某事是…
It’s nice of you to help me so much. 你太好了，幫我這么多。
2)It’s time to do/for/that…
It’s time to get up/for lunch/that we go home. 到起床/吃午飯/我們回家的時候了。
3)It seems that… 看起來好像…
It seems that he is quite happy. 他看起來好像很高興。
4) It’s one’s turn to do… 輪到某人做…
It’s your turn to sing. 輪到你唱歌了。
5) It’s + adj. +that從句
It’s necessary that you should be present at the meeting. 你很有必要出席會議。
