2020考研英語：狀語從句要如何翻譯?
一、識別狀語從句
第一步要要了解其概念，顧名思義，狀語從句就是指：一個句子在整個狀語從句中充當狀語成分。在考研英語中，主要考讓步狀語，時間狀語，條件狀語和原因狀語這四種狀語從句。
第二步識別狀語從句的常考的連詞，進而知道這是具體哪類狀語從句，再進行翻譯。

讓步狀語從句：while, although, though, no matter how, whatever, whenever, wherever等
時間狀語從句：when, as, until, before等
條件狀語從句：if, in case等
原因狀語從句：because, since, for+句子
二、狀語從句的翻譯
1. 讓步狀語從句：
(1)讓步狀語從句有明顯的標志詞如although,though, even if, even though，while等引導時，從句部分翻譯前置。
It doesn’t feel like a human or democratic relationship, even if both sides benefit.
條件狀語從句在句首，翻譯時直譯即可，這里even if引導的從句在句末這時翻譯時需前置。
即使對雙方有利，這感覺也不像是人類的或者民主的關(guān)系。
(2)還有一類以whatever，whenever，wherever，no matter wh-引導詞引導的讓步狀語從句，通常譯為不論...，無論...，不管...。
Perhaps the places they have been to , the places they want to go, the things they like, the things they hate&mdashwhatever you talk about.
Whatever引導的條件狀語從句，翻譯的時候也是前置，譯為無論...。無論你在談論什么，可能是他們?nèi)ミ^的地方，他們想去的地方，他們喜歡或是討厭的東西。
2. 時間狀語從句：
(1)翻譯時間狀語從句時，翻譯時一般把從句前置翻譯，也就是與漢語表達一樣。
As the cost to everyone else has become clearer, politicians have begun to clamp down.
這里是as引導的時間狀語從句，翻譯時直譯即可。隨著其他人所有人付出的代價越來越明顯，政客們已經(jīng)開始鎮(zhèn)壓。
The court cannot maintain its legitimacy as guardian of the rule of law when justices behave like politicians.
這里是when引導的時間狀語從句，翻譯時要把從句的翻譯前置。當法官像政客那樣表現(xiàn)時，法院將不能保持它作為法律規(guī)則守護者的合法性。
(2)翻譯成固定句型，由hardly... when, no sooner... than, as soon as...等連詞引導時間狀語從句時，常常翻譯成剛...就...。
As soon as he heard the news, he cried.
這里用的是固定句型as soon as，翻譯時就譯為剛...就... 他剛聽到這個消息，就大哭起來。
3. 條件狀語從句：
(1)條件從句一般以if, in case等連詞引導，翻譯時，一般把從句部分前置,翻譯為如果...或若...。
If you and I parachuted back to Fortune 500 companies in 1990, we would see much less frequent use of terms like journey, mission, passion.
這里是由if引導的虛擬條件狀語從句，這里if條件句就在句首，直譯即可。如果我和你空降到20世紀90年代財富500強企業(yè)，我們將會發(fā)現(xiàn)很少使用諸如‘旅程’‘使命’‘激情’等術(shù)語。
It will retain a large part of the coalition’s spending plans if it returns to power.
這是if引導的條件狀語從句，先翻譯if引導的句子(即翻譯時從句前置)，再翻譯主句。如果它重新執(zhí)政的話，它將保留聯(lián)邦的大部分支出計劃。
(2)條件狀語從句翻譯時也可省略連詞。
If you look hard enough, you’ll find that many of the products we use every day&mdashchewing gums, skin moisturizers, disinfecting wipes, air fresheners, water purifiers, health snacks, teeth whiteners, fabric softeners, vitamins&mdashare results of manufactured habits.
這也是由if引導的條件狀語從句，首先先斷句，可先把雙破折號的內(nèi)容單獨出來，置后，然后翻譯剩下的句子，此時的連詞可略譯。仔細觀察，發(fā)現(xiàn)我們?nèi)粘Ｊ褂玫暮芏喈a(chǎn)品都是制造習慣的結(jié)果，如口香糖、潤膚霜、消毒濕巾、空氣清新劑、凈化器、健康零食、牙齒增白劑、衣物柔順劑和維生素等。
4. 原因狀語從句：
原因狀語從句翻譯時，通常放在句首，譯為因為...所以，或者是之所以...是因為...。
They attract massive attention precisely because they remain the exception to the rule.
這里就是由because引導的原因狀語從句，翻譯時可用之所以...是因為這樣的翻譯來翻。他們之所以會引起廣泛關(guān)注，是因為他們?nèi)匀皇且?guī)則中的例外。
It’s a sad reality&mdashour desire to avoid interacting with other human beings&mdashbecause there’s much to be gained from talking to the stranger standing by you.
這里由because引導的，看著比較復雜，但其實也是符合這個翻譯，先把破折號里面的句子翻譯出來再直譯整個句子。我們渴望避免與其他人交流，之所以這是一個可悲的事實，是因為與站在你旁邊的陌生人的談話，你會收獲很多。
英語狀語從句的翻譯大致分為這幾種翻譯，若狀語從句在句首，直譯即可;若狀語從句在句末，翻譯置前，譯文會較為流暢;每種狀語從句翻譯中又略有差別，因此分別舉例說明，可能是固定搭配翻譯，也可能翻譯時省略連詞。
