The University of Bergen (UiB) is an internationally recognised research university. Academic diversity and high quality are fundamental for us. UiB is the most cited university in Norway.
There are seven faculties at UiB and there are a total of 16 400 students at the university. Around 1 550 of these are international students. We employ 3 600 staff. PhD candidates are paid employees of staff, making the doctoral degree at UiB particularly attractive for rising talent. About one in three graduating doctors are from outside Norway.

1.Faculty of Humanities
The Faculty of Humanities is a multidisciplinary faculty that currently teaches more than 3700 students and offers a substantial number of programmes leading to a wide range of academic and professional qualifications. These cover a variety of disciplines within the areas of philosophy, language studies, history and cultural studies, aesthetic and literary studies, and music and artistic research.
2.Faculty of Law
The Faculty of Law is located in the centre of Bergen, overlooking the Bergen fjord.
At the Faculty of Law we focus on high quality research and teaching within a variety of legal areas. Our international profile is reflected both in research activities and in the substantial number of students which we have the pleasure of welcoming every semester. It is also seen in the number of students from our Faculty travelling abroad.
3.FACULTY OF MATHEMATICS AND NATURAL SCIENCES
The faculty consists of eight departments who together represent the foundation of our research and education within disciplines such as mathematics, chemistry, physics, computer science, geoscience and life sciences, and with cross-diciplinary emphasis on climate, energy and marine research and education.Teaching is offered at all levels and in all our research fields.
We are proud to annonce our brand new master's programme in energy.The candidates develop technological competence suitable for work in industry as well as government agencies and the university sector.
