Hanyang University was established in 1939 by Lyun-Joon Kim, who desired greatly for the advancement of the country through technology education. In 1948, it was the first private university that actually developed by the engineering department and in 1959, it expanded into different ranges. In addition, in 1979, Hanyang University built their second campus in Ansan, Gyeonggi-do, one of the biggest industrial complexes in our country. As of 2011, Hanyang University has 2 campuses with students in all from both college and graduate school. College Of Medicine
The establishment of Hanyang University College of Medicine was planned from 1965. Hanyang University College of Medicine follows on the school’s founding philosophy of the practice of love (diligence, honesty, humility and service) and also works to contribute to the improvement of national health and produce ethical and responsible medical personnel. The Hanyang Foundation Academy planned to establish a medical university and got its start in 1968 when they invited the first freshmen class of 80 students. Hanyang University College of Medicine prepares the foundation for training practitioners of love who can contribute to the nation and society in a larger scope and depth. Since then, Hanyang University College of Medicine has been actively pursuing self development, putting medical expertise and creative research into practical use, training medical professionals to practice love in the community and nation.
Hanyang University Medical Center is located near the College of Medicine. In 1972, Hanyang University Medical Center, which was the largest of its kind in the East Asia and inherits Hanyang’s philosophy of love in deed and truth and practices this through medical activities. The Medical Center also trains students to be future doctors.

The College of Humanities is where the basic ideas of humanity and all the phenomena followed by developing critical thinking ability and insights that penetrate history, society, and culture through comprehensive inquiry of scholarship and extensive cultural knowledge. Through the study of language and literature, students gain insights into what it means to be human and cultivate a deep understanding of the world, and be equipped with the qualities that enable them to function as local experts and private envoys. With a strong emphasis on practical dimensions of a humanities education, the College includes highly practical approaches such as comparing Korean traditional culture with the history and culture of other countries in order to identify, appreciate, and create accordingly.
