FOR INCOMING STUDENTS
The Admissions Committee gives merit-based scholarship consideration to undergraduate students who apply for admissions through University College. These scholarships are awarded regardless of financial need. Scholarships are tuition-only awards, covering the balance of tuition not covered by another source.
UNIVERSITY COLLEGE ACHIEVER SCHOLARSHIP
The University College Achiever Scholarship is an incredible opportunity for transfer students. A minimum GPA of 3.3 is required. All transcripts are reviewed in the GPA calculation to determine eligibility. If you maintain the required GPA, you can continue to renew your Achiever Scholarship of 45% of tuition for 90 credits, 6 years, or until you earn your bachelor’s degree, whichever comes first.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
New matriculated undergraduates transferring to Syracuse University through University College with at least 30 credits of transferable coursework and a minimum GPA of 3.3 are selected by the Admissions Committee at the time of admission.

UNIVERSITY COLLEGE INCENTIVE GRANT
New and qualified returning University College part-time undergraduates who enroll for one class will be eligible to receive a tuition grant in the first, second, and third consecutive semesters. Both matriculated and non-matriculated students can qualify. Students who have already earned a bachelor’s degree are not eligible. The incentive program represents a mutual commitment between serious part-time students and University College of Syracuse University.
To qualify for this grant, you must meet the following criteria:
Be a new student (matriculated or non-matriculated), or a continuing student who has not been enrolled at University College or Syracuse University for over 5 years.
Not be receiving full tuition subsidy through another source (e.g., employee benefits, etc.). This is a tuition-only award and can cover only the balance of tuition not covered by another source. If you receive Remitted Tuition Benefits (RTB) from SU, you are not eligible for this grant. If you receive partial tuition subsidy, the Incentive Grant will cover only the remaining balance of tuition or 50 percent, whichever is lower.
Enroll in three credits, placing a 25 percent deposit at the time of registration. If you wish to drop the course(s) by the financial drop deadline of the semester, the deposit will be refunded. If you remain in the course, an Incentive Grant in the amount of 50 percent will be awarded. If you drop the class after the 100% financial drop deadline, the grant will be removed from your account and you will be responsible for paying the remaining tuition cost. The amount will be calculated based on the refund percentage at the time when you drop the class.

This scholarship covers 50 percent of the cost of tuition to new Bachelor of Professional Studies students who reside in New York State. If the student maintains the required GPA, the award will continue for six (6) years or until the bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever comes first.

The University College Dean’s Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship that provides a 45 percent tuition scholarship to academically qualified students initially not eligible for the Achiever Scholarship.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Undergraduates transferring to Syracuse University through UC who perform at Dean’s list academic level, can be awarded the scholarship after earning 12 SU credits with a minimum 3.4 GPA. A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 must be maintained to be eligible for the renewal of the scholarship.

HAUDENOSAUNEE PROMISE
The Haudenosaunee Promise Scholarship was established to recognize Syracuse University’s gratitude and appreciation for the historical, political, and cultural legacies of the Haudenosaunee, and to honor the bond that has developed between them. Qualified students receive financial assistance equal to the cost of tuition and mandatory fees for each year of part-time undergraduate study.

Native American students who are admitted, qualified, first-year, or transfer students, studying part-time at UC and who meet the following requirements:

ALPHA SIGMA LAMBDA SCHOLARSHIP
Alpha Sigma Lambda is the nation’s largest and oldest chapter-based honor society for nontraditional students. The Society was founded in 1945-46 and today has more than 300 institutional chapters. The Syracuse University chapter is the Beta Delta Chapter and was established in 1977.
Alpha Sigma Lambda’s aim is to recognize the special achievements of adults who accomplish academic excellence while facing competing interests of home and work. The Society is dedicated to the advancement of scholarship and recognizes high scholastic achievement in an adult student’s career. By so doing, this Society encourages many students to continue toward and to earn associate and bachelor’s degrees.

Scholarship amounts vary annually, depending on the income generated by the endowment and by the number of students who are eligible.

LEVI L. SMITH SCHOLARSHIP
The Levi L. Smith Scholarship fund, named in honor of Thursday Morning Roundtable’s (TMR) founder, was established in 1990 to commemorate TMR’s 25th anniversary. Since then, the endowment has provided the means for part-time students to continue their education. Recipients of the six-credit TMR scholarships are chosen based on their financial need, academic record, and interest in public or social service, reflecting TMR’s purpose and mission.
SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS
Offers two annual scholarships of six credit hours each to encourage adults interested in public service to complete their degree. Applicants must have sophomore standing, a grade point average of 3.0 or above, and must have taken a minimum of four University College courses. Financial need is a criterion. Selection is based on academic potential in relation to stated educational and career goals. A scholarship winner is eligible to apply again.

LOIS OTTEN SCHOLARSHIP
Robert P. Otten established the Lois C. Otten scholarship with Syracuse University in 1981 to provide assistance to students enrolled in a degree program at University College, with preference to those participating in the Independent Study Degree Programs. With the retirement of Independent Study Degree programs, the UC Scholarship Committee continues the donor’s intentions, awarding the Lois C. Otten scholarships to undergraduate(s) enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies or Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts. It is based primarily on merit, but financial need is also considered.
SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS
The scholarship award is based primarily on merit, but financial resources available to the student will play a part in the committee’s decision. Where academic performance is comparable, the award will favor candidates with greater financial need.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Undergraduate students enrolled in the University College Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies (B.L.S.) or the Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Matriculated returning UC part-time undergraduates who progress in their degree programs with an overall GPA of at least 2.0.
SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS
Grant levels correspond to specific academic levels as described in the chart below. Awards range from $300 to $400. Students may be awarded a grant for academic achievement as they progress in their studies—with cumulative GPA in ranges 2.0 to 2.99 and above 3.0—as well as in academic levels—non-matriculated to matriculated, freshman to sophomore, sophomore to junior, and junior to senior. Grants are awarded regardless of financial need.

ETA PI UPSILON SCHOLARSHIP
Eta Pi Upsilon, the first senior women’s honorary society in the United States, was founded at Syracuse in 1898. The goals of the society have been: to better understand and help solve University problems, especially among women students; to uphold the tradition and ideals of Syracuse University; to make possible for every Syracuse woman the greatest individual development through unselfish service in campus activities; and to attain a deeper sense of unity and fellowship among all Syracuse women.
By 1968, alumnae enthusiastically responded to suggestions that they provide a scholarship to deserving women enrolled in a degree program at Syracuse University through University College. Since then, the scholarship program has significantly grown from one to 25+ awards through a combination of alumnae donations to an endowed scholarship fund.
SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS
Scholarships are awarded to undergraduates annually based on academic distinction and financial need. Ten or more need-based scholarships for six-credit hours each are available, to be used in one of the following three semesters.

WOMEN OF SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP
The Mildred Eggers Award was established in honor of the wife of the late Chancellor Melvin A. Eggers. In gratitude for her generous support of the Women of the University Community (WUC), this award is presented to students in continuing education studying part-time at University College of SU to complete a degree program or to attain additional educational goals.
Presented by the Syracuse University Women’s Club at its annual luncheon, this scholarship is reserved for women who are matriculated in a bachelor’s degree program and taking at least six credits the following semester. Based primarily on academic merit, with financial need considered.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Qualified women students who are matriculated for a bachelor’s degree and plan to carry at least six credit hours in the semester following the award.
