Indigenous Commonwealth Scholarships
No new Indigenous Commonwealth Scholarships will be offered on the Broome campus from August 2013 but all existing scholarships will continue. Indigenous students on the Sydney and Fremantle campuses may still apply
The Commonwealth Scholarships Program is administered on behalf of the Australian Government by eligible higher education providers. There are a number of Indigenous Commonwealth Scholarships that Indigenous students can apply for. These include:
Indigenous Access Scholarship (IAS) provide eligible commencing students with a one off payment. These scholarships assist Indigenous students to undertake an eligible enabling course, undergraduate course or graduate diploma (or equivalent post graduate course of study) in an area of National Priority required for initial registration to practice in the chosen National Priority field.
Indigenous Commonwealth Education Cost Scholarship (ICECS) are available to future full-time Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to assist with the costs associated with higher education.
Indigenous Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarship (ICAS) seeks to help low-income full-time Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students with the costs associated with higher education, who have moved a significant distance to study.
Indigenous Enabling Commonwealth Education Cost Scholarship (IECECS) are available to future full-time Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to assist with the costs associated with the enabling or bridging courses at Universities.

The Charlie Perkins Scholarships
Each year the Charlie Perkins Scholarship Trust offers two Scholarships for Indigenous postgraduates to study either Oxford or Cambridge universities for up to three years.
To be considered for the Scholarship, applicants must have applied for a course at Oxford and/or Cambridge. Applicants must also submit:

Five referees. The references should highlight your capabilities, your past contribution to the Indigenous community, and the perceived future benefit of doing your chosen course. One of your references should be from an Elder in your community, and should highlight your connection to the community.
The Charlie Perkins Scholarships will only be awarded to students who are accepted to study at either Oxford or Cambridge. In most instances, this will require a First Class Honours degree or a very strong Second Class Honours degree.

The Catherine King Scholarship in Nursing is to assist Indigenous Australian students studying a Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled/Division 2 Nursing) at the University of Notre Dame Australia’s Broome Campus. The value of each Scholarship is a lump sum cash payment of $2,000 per annum. The number of Scholarships awarded per annum will be determined each year in consultation with the Donor. To be eligible for consideration, applicants must:

The Bupa International Student Award
Value: $1,000 (Up to 3 Awards)
The Bupa International Student Award is to assist and encourage international students, enrolled at The University of Notre Dame Australia, to be involved in the life and culture of the University and the broader community. To be eligible for the Award, applicants must be enrolled as an international student at The University of Notre Dame Australia in an undergraduate or postgraduate award course, and be a student of good academic standing. The applicant will have to demonstrate:
Promotion of the international student culture on the student campus of enrolment, for example, supporting commencing international students, or in organising events that promote international culture;

Research Training Program Scholarships
As of 1st January 2017, the Department of Education and Training launched a Research Training Program (RTP) to support domestic and international students undertaking Higher Degrees in Research. RTP replaces the Australian Postgraduate Awards (APA), the International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS) and Research Training Scheme.
Due to this new government legislation, our scholarships policy is under review and will be released in June 2017.
