Foundation programme entry requirements
Students from China wishing to pursue a foundation programme at Kent will need to obtain a final grade of at least 80% in their Senior High School Certificate (Huikao) or Senior Secondary Academic Proficiency Test (Xueye Shuiping Ceshi/Kaoshi). Applicants need to have completed the full three years of senior high school.
If you have taken the National College Entrance Examination (Gaokao), the results of this will be considered alongside your Senior Secondary/High School results.
We will also consider applicants with high grades in their Vocational and Technical Secondary School Diploma (Zhigao /Jixiao) or Specialised School/College Diploma (Zhongzhuan) on a case-by-case basis.
We offer 1-year subject-specific foundation programmes in Actuarial Science, Chemistry, Computer Systems Engineering, Electronic and Communications Engineering, Forensic Science, Mathematics and Physics. Entry to these may require you to have studied specific subjects at senior high school.
We also have an International Foundation Programme which gives you a year’s preparation in academic subjects, English language and study skills up to the level required for entry to a degree programme. The programme provides entry into a wide range of Bachelor degrees in our faculties of Humanities, Social Sciences and Sciences.

Undergraduate entry requirements
For entry to a Kent undergraduate degree programme, Chinese students typically need to have completed one of the following:
Foundation programme in China or the UK – requirements will depend on the programme taken
The first year of a Bachelor degree (Xueshi) with an average grade of at least 75% or equivalent from a 211 university, or 80% from other recognised institutions
Vocational Diploma (Gaozhi) with a final grade of at least 80% or equivalent
2 or 3-year Diploma (Zhuanke or Da Zhuan) with a final grade of at least 80% or equivalent
Students who have completed a 3-year Diploma (Zhuanke/ Da Zhuan) may be considered for 2nd year or 3rd year entry on a case-by-case basis if they have studied similar content to Year 1 (or Year 2 where relevant) of the Kent undergraduate degree applied for.
二、本科入學(xué)要求

Postgraduate entry requirements
For entry to a Kent postgraduate degree programme (Master’s), Chinese students typically need to have completed a Bachelor Degree (Xueshi) at a recognised institution. Exact requirements will depend on the postgraduate degree you are applying for and the undergraduate degree you have studied.
For programmes that require a 2:1 we usually ask for a Bachelor degree (Xueshi) from a 211 university with a final grade of 70%. For Bachelor degrees from other recognised institutions you will need to achieve a final grade of 75%
For programmes that require a 2:2 we usually ask for a Bachelor degree (Xueshi) from a 211 university with a final grade of 65%. For Bachelor degrees from other recognised institutions you will need to achieve a final grade of 70%
Applicants with relevant work experience may be considered with lower grades.
Some, but not all, postgraduate programmes require your undergraduate degree to have a related major. Some postgraduate programmes may require work experience in a relevant field or at a certain level.

PhD
For entry to a Kent PhD programme, Chinese students typically need to have completed a Master’s degree (Shuoshi) at a 211 university with a minimum final grade of 70%. Students with Master’s degrees from other recognised institutions will need to achieve a final grade of 75%.
If you would like to pursue a PhD at Kent, you should visit the relevant department website to identify potential supervisors for your research and thesis. You are encouraged to then make direct contact with the appropriate academic to discuss your research proposal.
四、博士學(xué)位申請(qǐng)要求

English language requirements
Whether you are applying to the University of Kent as a home or overseas student you will need to satisfy minimum English language entry requirements for your application to be considered. This guidance will help confirm if your application is likely to meet these requirements.
For international (overseas) applicants, in order to comply with the requirements of UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI), all English language requirements are set at a level that meet both the academic needs of the University and the minimum requirements for a Tier 4 (General) student visa.
Students whose first language is not English, and who live/study in a non-majority English-speaking country are required to have an appropriate grade/score in an approved English language examination.
This requirement is necessary to meet the academic entry level for the University of Kent and, if required, the UKVI Tier 4 (General) Student Visa application process. Applicants should note that the University's English language requirements are set at a level that exceeds the minimum requirements for obtaining Tier 4 (General) student visa.
If you are a national of a majority English-speaking country, or if you completed a qualification equivalent to a UK Bachelor's degree in a majority English-speaking country a SELT will not be required as part of a Tier 4 (General) student visa application.
If you studied/are studying recognised qualifications in English at an International School, or took a GCSE English as a first or second language, a SELT may not be required.
You must satisfy a minimum English Language entry requirement to be accepted on your intended course at the University, any specific requirements will be included in your offer letter should your application to study be successful.
