Accommodation
At Monash, we foster a sense of community among our students.
Community means safety, friendship, support and wellbeing. A vital part of preparing yourself for a life of learning, innovation and exploration is the opportunity to meet and learn from one another. This is what living on campus, or in "Res" offers.
For students who live on campus, university life continues beyond the classrooms. Every residence has a long list of activities to help you meet people, stay connected, form study groups and enjoy your time. Friends you make in Res may well become lifelong connections and form part of your social and professional networks well beyond graduation.
Something for everyone
We offer a range of on-campus accommodation options at Clayton, Berwick and Peninsula.
We are also currently building four new halls of residence at the Clayton campus to be available in 2016. This exciting new hub will include three shopping precincts with food outlets, pop-up bars, shops, public spaces for entertainment, and plenty of green space to relax and connect.
Halls of residence
It's all about lifestyle in the halls of residence, where a thriving social scene is a core part of Res life.
Each room comes with a king-size single bed, a desk, a chair and a wardrobe. In our new buildings you can cook in your room, as there are fridges, microwaves and cooktops, with room for a toaster and kettle.
Every floor also has its own kitchen, laundry and resident advisor ("RA") to look out for students' welfare. The mascots, the traditions, the chats, the late-night coffees, the support and the friendships come to life in the stairways, hallways and common rooms of the halls.
Single-room studios
The single-room studio design is so stylish and functional that we have adopted it for all of our new buildings. Each studio comes with its own kitchen area and bathroom.
It's a bit like living in a luxury hotel filled with people you really want to talk to and people who want you to be safe, happy and productive.
Shared flats and houses
If you have friends you want to share a space with, and yet still live at university, or you feel a smaller community would suit you, then shared flats and houses are the answer.
Most flats have four bedrooms but you can choose a two-, three- or five-bedroom option.
