Short-Term Exchange Program
Purpose
Kumamoto University Short-Term Exchange Program is designed for students who are enrolled full-time at a university abroad and have foreign citizenship. The program offers undergraduate foreign students, who are interested in the Japanese language, Japanese and Asian society and culture, advanced science and technology, and interactions with foreign students, the chance to study for up to a year in Japan while still retaining their full-time status at their home universities. The university also hopes that the program will promote exchange between university students from foreign countries and Japanese university students.
短期交換項目
目的
熊本大學短期交換項目為注冊海外大學且具有外國公民身份的學生設置。項目為對日語語言、日語與亞洲社會文化、先進科學技術以及外國學生互動感興趣的國外本科生提供一年的日本學習機會，學習期間保留原先大學的全日制學生身份。熊本大學也希望該項目可以促進國外大學生和日本大學生之間的交換。
Available Courses
E Course (Program in English)
As a general rule, this course is intended for third year undergraduate students from universities that have a student exchange agreement with Kumamoto University. Students in this course mainly take Short-Term Exchange Program classes taught in English. Also, they can take Japanese language and Japanese Studies classes. Students in this course can take specialized subjects for undergraduate students of each faculty and general education classes which are not included in program completion requirements as well.
(Note: Most specialized subjects and General Education classes are taught in Japanese)

J Course (Program in Japanese)
This course is intended for students from universities that have a student exchange agreement with Kumamoto University. Students in this course mainly take classes in specialized subjects for undergraduate students of each faculty, as well as classes in the Japanese language and Japanese Studies. Also, they can take general education classes and Short-Term Exchange Program classes taught in English.
日語類課程
這類課程針對所在大學與熊本大學有學生交換協議的學生。學生在這類課程里可以學習為各個學院本科生設置的專業(yè)課程，也可以學習日語語言和日語研究課程。此外，學生也可以學習普通教育課程和用英語授課的短期交換項目課程。
Period of Acceptance
Students are accepted for a term of a half or one year that starts in either October or April of any given calendar year.

Applicant Qualifications
E Course (Program in English)
1. As a general rule, applicants should currently be full-time thirdyear undergraduate students at universities that have a student exchange agreement with Kumamoto University, and must have foreign citizenship.
2. Having English ability equivalent to a TOEFL iBT score of 61 or more.
3. Applicants should be physically and mentally capable of completing their studies.

1. Applicants should currently be full-time undergraduate students at universities that have a student exchange agreement with Kumamoto University, and must have foreign citizenship.
2. Having Japanese Ability equivalent to JLPT N3 or more.
3. Applicants should be physically and mentally capable of completing their studies.
日語類課程
1.申請人必須為當年全日制本科生，所在大學需要與熊本大學有學生交換協議，并且有外國國籍;
2.日語能力考試成績在N3及以上;
3.申請人身體和精神上要健康，要有能力完成學習。
Japanese Studies Program
日語學習項目
Overview
Kumamoto University Japanese Studies Program is a one-year program intended for undergraduate international students who are majoring in fields related to Japanese language and culture. The aim of the program is to improve Japanese proficiency, to impart the knowledge and skills required to conduct Japanese studies, and to help students acquire a practical knowledge of Japanese language and culture for use in society.

*Students must arrive in Japan on specified dates in order to attend the orientation at about the end of September.
概述
熊本大學的日語學習項目是一個一年制項目，適合主修專業(yè)與日語語言文化相關的國際本科生。項目的目標是提升學生的日語能力，教授日語研究所需的知識技能，幫助學生獲得可用于社會的日語語言文化知識。

Qualifications and conditions for applicants
We are seeking applicants who intend to increase their understanding of the Japanese language, Japanese studies, and/or Japanese culture while in Japan, and who will come to Japan from abroad.
Applicants must be nationals of countries approved for this program by the Japanese government. (Applicants who possess Japanese citizenship are not eligible to apply.)
Applicants should belong to a department at a foreign university overseas and major in an area related to the Japanese language or Japanese culture at the time of arriving in Japan, and after they return to their home country. Also, applicants must have at least two years of experience in Japanese language study.
Level 4 of Kumamoto University Japanese level (JLPT N3-N2) and above is preferred.
Applicants should be physically and mentally able to complete their studies at university.
Applicants should be prepared to devote themselves to studies of this program throughout the year and have enthusiasm on research work and class participation is a must.

1.在日本學習期間有意加深對日語語言、日語研究和日本文化的理解，居住在日本以外;
2.必須為得到日本政府批準、可以學習該項目的國家的公民。(具有日本國籍的學生不能申請)
3.來日本之前和回國之后，都需要是外國大學院系的學院，主修專業(yè)需要與日語語言或日語文化相關。并且，必須有至少兩年的日語學習經歷;
4.熊本大學日語四級以上優(yōu)先;
5.必須身體健康、精神健康，有能力完成在熊本大學的學習;
6.必須做好全年全身心投入項目學習的準備，必須有研究熱情、積極參與課堂。
Mentor system
Both a faculty teacher and a Japanese language instructor will co-teach you and act as your supervisors.

Completion requirements
This program has two courses. Students who have earned at least 24 credits during an academic year on each course, submitted an essay in Japanese which is approved by a supervisor or a course completion report and passed an oral examination will receive a “Certificate of Completion.”
完成要求
該項目有兩門課。在一個學年期間，學生需要每門課拿到24個以上學分，提交得到指導老師同意的日語短文(或課程完成報告)，并通過口語考試，才能獲得結業(yè)證書。
