International Postgraduate Excellence Scholarships (IPES) for 2017-2018
Up to 13 scholarships, each worth ￡5,000 towards tuition fees will be available for International (non-EU) students commencing full-time Taught Masters courses in September 2017. The scholarships will be awarded for academic excellence (minimum of a UK 1st class honours degree or the equivalent award). In order to be considered for one of these awards, an application for a place on a taught Masters degree at Aberystwyth University must be received by 28th July 2017.

(1)Up to 13 scholarships worth ￡5,000 towards tuition fees for full-time non-EU students on taught Masters courses are available for students who commence their studies in September 2017 on a first-come-first-serve basis.
(2)Separate application forms are not required. Therefore it is essential that the application for a place be received by the AU Postgraduate Admissions Office (AQRO) by 28th July 2017 at the very latest.
(3)Selection will be on the basis of academic excellence and the applicant’s suitability for their proposed course. A minimum (UK) 1st Class Honours (or equivalent) is required for an award. Information on the comparability of non-UK degrees is available on our comparability page.
(4)Acceptance of an offer of an award must be received within 2 weeks of being offered.
(5)Decisions for 2017 will be made centrally on the basis of academic excellence.
(6)Scholarships are available for entirely self-financed students (i.e. they cannot be held by students with full-awards, e.g. Chevening Scholarships, Commonwealth Shared Scholarship or any governmental award or any partial awards, including AU departmental awards, Aber-grad Scholarships nor HEI partnership discounts).
(7)Scholarships should be used the year for which they are applied and awarded for. In the event of candidates deferring the year of entry the scholarship can also be deferred. If it is deemed necessary for the Scholarship holder to suspend their studies, the scholarship will be held on University account and carried forward to the year of resumption of studies and the candidate will be expected to pay their contribution on a pro-rata basis.
(8)During and after the period of study the candidate may be asked to participate in promotional activities for the University. This may include receptions and social events, testimonial or publicity articles or even assisting with activities in their home country.
(9)For taught programmes, scholarships may be transferred between same level degree schemes where the applicant changes the programme of study during the course of the degree. Transfers may only occur between degree schemes of the same level, i.e. from one postgraduate taught programme to another.
(10)If, in the view of the appropriate Institute Director, a scholarship holder’s progress is deemed unsatisfactory, the scholarship may be withdrawn. A scholarship may also be withdrawn on the grounds of failure to comply with any of the conditions of the award. The candidate may be required to repay the University any award which has been made, in whole or in part. If the scholar feels that such a withdrawal is unjustified s/he may appeal in writing to the Director of the International Office within 15 days of the date of notification.
(11)Where the applicant arranges to pay fees by instalment the scholarship will be deducted from the final instalment. Where the candidate arranges to pay their tuition fees in full in advance, they will receive the scholarship deduction immediately and the tuition fee will be adjusted accordingly. International (non-EU) applicants are required to pay a deposit towards their tuition fees in accordance with University policy.*
(12)This scholarship scheme is subject to annual review. The University reserves the right to make, amend, withdraw, suspend or cancel without notice these and other such Regulations as may be in force from time to time and such decisions shall be final.
* Please note that an IPES award cannot be used against the non-refundable tuition fee deposit that was specified in the offer letter for your place on the Masters course. You would have to pay this deposit in advance of completing the admissions process. The International Postgraduate Excellence Scholarship would thus be a reduction in the remaining tuition fees.

Scholarships, each worth ￡2,000 towards tuition fees will be available for International (non-EU) students commencing full-time Taught Masters courses or a Research Programme (MPhil, LLM by Research or PhD) in September 2017. In order to be considered for one of these awards, an application for a place on a relevant programme at Aberystwyth University must be received by 28th July 2017.

(6)Scholarships should be used the year for which they are applied and awarded for. In the event of candidates deferring the year of entry the scholarship can also be deferred. If it is deemed necessary for the Scholarship holder to suspend their studies, the scholarship will be held on University account and carried forward to the year of resumption of studies and the candidate will be expected to pay their contribution on a pro-rata basis.

The award for MPhil/LLM by Research programmes is tenable for a maximum of 12 months. The award for PhD programmes is tenable for a maximum of 36 months.

Aber-grad Scholarships
阿伯斯維思畢業(yè)生獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金
Aberystwyth University offers a Scholarship towards Taught Masters, LLM by research and MPhil tuition fees for Aberystwyth University graduates registering for study in 2017. The Aber-Grad Scholarship applies to both UK/EU and International students. If you hold a First Class Bachelors (Hons.) degree, then the scholarship will be 20% of your tuition fees. Holders of Second Class degrees are eligible for a scholarship worth 10% of your Taught Masters tuition fee
Applications for relevant courses must be received by 28th July 2017 at the latest. You do not need to apply separately for this loyalty discount as it is automatically applied to course fees on enrolment where eligible.

Students must be graduates of Aberystwyth University having gained at least a 2:2 or above. The scholarship will be automatically awarded to students registering on any Taught Masters scheme (excluding the PGCE courses) LLM by research or MPhil at Aberystwyth University. All Aberystwyth University graduates (UK, other EU and non-EU) are eligible. The scheme covers all modes of study (full-time, part-time and distance-learning). Applicants may only hold the Aber-grad scholarship with other funding so long as the combined amount does not exceed 50% of the proposed Masters tuition fees. (Note: Please note that the regulations of other scholarships prevent them from being held with other awards. It is the applicants’ responsibility to seek confirmation on this). It does not cover those receiving scholarships or bursaries exceeding 50% of the proposed tuition fees and it does not cover staff candidates. Loans are not treated as scholarships for this purpose.
Example: MSc international tuition fees of ￡15,250 for an AU graduate with a 2i Honours who is subsequently offered a ￡2,000 Aberystwyth International Scholarship (AIS) for the MSc.
Threshold for combined scholarships = 0.50 x ￡15,250 = ￡7,625.
Aber-grad Scholarship (Discount) = 0.10 x ￡15,250 = ￡1,525. Tuition is then reduced to ￡13,725.
Less AIS, the net tuition fee = ￡13,725 - ￡2,000 = ￡11,725.

International (non-EU) students commencing a Research programme can be supported through University schemes or external schemes as those listed below.

AberDoc PhD Scholarship Competition 2017
2017阿伯斯維思博士獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金
The AberDoc is a prestigious fund for Research Postgraduates. These highly sought after scholarships are worth* approx ￡18,748 per annum. Successful UK/EU candidates will receive a grant for up to three years which will cover their tuition fees (approx ￡4,195) and also provide them with a maintenance allowance of approximately ￡14,553 and access to a travel and conference fund (￡500 per annum). Non-EU students would have to cover the difference between UK/EU tuition fees and the non-EU tuition fees from their scholarship. However, there will be 3 additional President's Scholarships that will cover this difference in tuition fees. These will be awarded to the three highest ranked non-EU candidates for this competition.

Deadlines: The University's general deadline for the 2017 competition is the 1st March 2017.
N.B. Please note that the deadline for the Institute of Geography, History, Politics and Psychology and the Department of Theatre, Film and Television Studies is the 27th January 2017.

Aberystwyth International Scholarships (AIS) for 2017-2018
Scholarships, each worth ￡2,000 towards tuition fees will be available for International (non-EU) students commencing full-time Taught Masters courses or a Research Programme (MPhil, LLM by Research or PhD) in September 2017. In order to be considered for one of these awards, an application for a place on a relevant programme at Aberystwyth University must be received by 28th July 2017.
