一、UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT ADMISSIONS
本科生入學
At Yokohama National University, international students are admitted under Yokohama Global Education Program (YGEP). YGEP-N1 seeks international students with Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N1 level of Japanese by Standard Admission and Pre-arrival Admission. The students will study the standard curriculum with Japanese students in Japanese. YGEP-N2 seeks international students with JLPT N2 level of Japanese living abroad by Pre-arrival Admission. The students will study Japanese language and culture intensively during the first year and study their specialized areas with Japanese students in Japanese from the second year onwards. In either case, students are NOT required to take the JLPT prior to their application.
在橫濱國立大學，國際本科生統(tǒng)一在橫濱全球教育項目下入學。該項目的第一項目通過標準入學和抵達前入學，招收持有日語能力考試N1 級證書的國際學生。項目一的學生將和日本學生一起學習標準日語授課課程。項目的第二項目通過抵達前入學，招收持有日語能力考試N2級證書的居住在日本以外的國際學生。這個項目的學生第一學年將集中學習日語語言和文化，第二學年及往后將和日本學生一起學習專業(yè)領域日語授課課程。兩種情況下，學生在申請之前都不需要參加日語能力考試。
Qualifications for Application
Non-Japanese citizens who meet the following basic qualifications and requirements are eligible.

Basic Qualifications
Applicants must fulfill one of the following criteria:
⑴Those who have finished or are expected to finish 12 years of school education in countries other than Japan by March 31 of the year they wish to enter a Japanese university or those who have been recognized as equivalent to the above by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
⑵Those who have been designated by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and those who have an international baccalaureate degrees, Abiturzeugnisse from Germany, or baccalaureate degrees from France and who will reach age 18 by March 31 of the year they wish to commence enrollment.

⑴截至入學當年的3月31日，已經完成或即將完成12年日本以外國家的中學教育，或者完成文部科學省認定的與前述教育同等的教育;

Notes:
“12-year curriculum in an education institution abroad”refers to schools whose geographical location is outside Japan, which in principle are officially recognized in the country’s education system, and which confer to graduates the eligibility to apply to universities. Applicants from schools such as international schools or American schools (except those who satisfy Basic Conditions (2)) should consult with us at an early stage as the confirmation of their eligibility status may take time.
備注：
“海外教育機構”指的是地理位置在日本以外、原則上有所在國家教育體制官方認可、為其畢業(yè)生授予大學入學資格的學校。國際學校和美國學校的申請人(滿足第二項標準的學生除外)需要盡早聯(lián)系橫濱國立大學，因為資格確認需要一定時間。
Designated Requirement
Applicants must meet requirements 1), 2) and 3)
1)Those who have or will have a visa with which admission to the university would not be in violation of the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act.
2)Those who have taken the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students in either June or November 2016 and who meet other requirements designated by the college concerned.
3)Those who have taken the TOEFL or TOEIC or IELTS as required by the college concerned and who meet the English requirements designated by the college concerned.
If applying for “Pre-arrival Admission”, applicants must meet the following two requirements as well as the designated requirements 1), 2) and 3) above.
1)Those who have taken the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students in either June or November 2016 outside Japan.
2)Those whose place of residence is outside Japan.

Notes:
Non-Japanese students who have or will have graduated from a Japanese high school, middle school, or other educational facility in Japan will be treated as general applicants, and are NOT eligible. However, applicants are allowed to apply if they meet basic qualification 2).
Those applying for the College of Economics or Business Administration must choose one from Standard EP and GEEP at the time of application.
Those applying for the College of Engineering Science must choose one Educational Program at the time of application.
To obtain a college student visa, applicants must have a solid financial footing to maintain their student life.
備注：
1.非日本國籍，但已經畢業(yè)或即將畢業(yè)于日本高中、中學或其他教育機構的申請人屬于普通申請人，不能申請。但是，如果滿足基本資格中的第二項標準，則可以申請。
2.申請經濟學院或工商管理學院的學生，在申請的時候必須從EP標準 和GEEP 標準中選擇一項。
3.申請工程科學學院的學生在申請的時候必須選擇一門教育課程。

Application Documents
Applicants must submit the following documents to the dean of the appropriate college.
Prescribed application form of the college in Japanese.
Copy of the applicant’s certificate of (expected) graduation (or completion) certificate from the high school attended.
Academic transcript from the high school attended.
Copy of the certificate of residence or copy of passport.
EJU application slip (and score report).
Certificate of English language proficiency (TOEFL or TOEIC or IELTS)
Two passport-size photos taken within the past three months (to be attached to the application form).
Other documents required by the college concerned (such as the video presentation).

Standard Admission (For applicants wishing to enroll in April, 2017)
The selection of new students will be based on performance in a variety of individual achievement tests (this may include tests of academic ability, an interview and a short essay), performance on the EJU, and official transcripts from previous schools.
標準入學(針對有意于2017年4月的申請人)

Pre-arrival Admission
Applicants will be screened holistically, based on the application form, academic transcripts, scores of EJU, certificate of English language proficiency, video presentation (Japanese), and interview. The interview may become void if the identification of the applicant is deemed difficult due to the local Internet connection. The interview will take place via the Internet, using such services as Google Hangouts and Skype. Accordingly, the interviewees must be able to avail themselves of computer facilities with camera and microphone functions, as well as fast Internet connection. The interview will be conducted in Japanese and will be within 30 minutes.

The following is an overview of the graduate student selection process at Yokohama National University. Please note that the majority of the classes, seminars and examinations at YNU ,except the Graduate School of Engineering, are conducted in Japanese. There are, however, many faculty members who are fully proficient to lecture and provide academic supervision in English and other languages.

Application Qualifications
For Master's Degree Programs
Non-Japanese citizens who meet one of the following requirements are eligible.
Those who have graduated or are expected to graduate from a Japanese university before they wish to commence enrollment.
Those who have finished 16 years of education in countries other than Japan or who are expected to finish before they wish to commence enrollment.
Those who have been recognized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan as having achieved a level of education equivalent to that provided by a Japanese university (contact the appropriate graduate school for details.)
Those who have been recognized by the graduate school concerned in an independent screening process as having equivalent or superior academic ability to university graduates, and are 22 years old or older before they wish to commence enrollment.
Some programs will accept a broader range of applicants. For further information, please contact the relevant graduate school office.
碩士學位課程申請資格
滿足以下一項要求的非日本國籍的公民有資格申請：

For Doctoral Degree Programs
Non-Japanese citizens who meet one of the following requirements are eligible.
Those who have obtained a master’s degree from a Japanese graduate school or who are expected to receive a master’s degree before they wish to commence enrollment.
Those who have a degree equivalent to a master’s degree from countries other than Japan or who are expected to receive such a degree before they wish to commence enrollment.
Those who have been recognized in the Yokohama National University Graduate School’s independent screening process as having achieved a level of education equivalent or superior to that obtained by earning a master’s degree and who are 24 years old before they wish to commence enrollment.
Some programs will accept a broader range of applicants. For further information, please contact the relevant graduate school office.
博士學位課程申請資格
滿足以下一項要求的非日本國籍的公民有資格申請：

Application Documents
The applicant must submit the following documents to the dean of the graduate school in which he or she wishes to study.
Prescribed application form.
Copy of the applicant's certificate of (expected) graduaition from the last school attended.
Academic transcript from the last school attended.
Description of the research plan the applicant wishes to pursue.
Copy of the certificate of residence or copy of passport.
Passport-size photos taken within the past three months (attached to the application form).
Any other documents required by the graduate school concerned such as certificate of English language or Japanese language proficiency.
The majority of programs in the Graduate School of International Social Sciences require applicants to apply via theWeb Application system. Applicants may also need to submit supplemental materials by regular mail, depending on individual program requirements. The application period, examination dates, and announcement of results are as below. Both written and/or oral examinations are conducted by most graduate schools. Some programs will screen applicants by thorough evaluation of application documents and by conducting online (Skype) interviews. To receive further information as well as application forms, please contact the appropriate graduate school and specify the course of study you are applying for.
Note: In general, each graduate school will publish and upload the application form, guideline and other documents one month before the application period.
