ACCOMMODATION
The University is unique amongst Japanese universities in its capacity to provide affordable student housing for international students. We have over 4000 on-campus, single-study, dorm rooms available.
Every room has wired internet access, a wash-hand basin, desk and bed while sharing other facilities, such as bathrooms and kitchens. Dining and a range of other facilities are available in each of our four accommodations; Ichinoya, Hirasuna, Kasuga and Oikoshi.
住宿

Currently, and over the next few years, our accommodation is undergoing a program of rolling redevelopment. Our aim is to have not only the highest number of rooms, but also to have the highest quality student accommodation in Japan.
Every incoming international student is guaranteed a place in university accommodation. Many of our students remain in student halls throughout the majority of their time in Tsukuba, which can save a huge amount of money. Prices start from just ¥14,900 per month (Approximately US$150 / month, assuming $1 = 100 yen).
For those who do not wish to live in university accommodation, a wide range of apartments are available in Tsukuba city.

一、ON-CAMPUS HOUSING

Rules for residents
Since the dormitory is a shared facility, there are various rules that must be followed. For details please refer to the "Guidebook for Dormitory Life”.
For those who correspond to any of the following rules, please be aware that you can be ordered to move out.
If you are in arrears with the rent for more than three months for no reason.
If you do not move out, even though your period of residence has ended.
If you lodged someone other than a resident.
If you befoul or damage a facility in any way and do not pay for the cost required to restore to its original state.
If you disobey a necessary instruction for management and operation.
If there was a false entry in your housing application.
If you violated a condition of eligibility.
If you committed an act that poses a problem for management and operation.
住宿規(guī)章
由于宿舍屬于公共的場所，有許多規(guī)章需要遵守。詳情請參看“住宿生活手冊”。
符合以下規(guī)定的學(xué)生，可能需要搬出：
1.無故拖欠三個月以上租金
2.居住期限已到，還沒有搬出
3.讓其他人和你同住

Internet access/Phone
Internet access is provided free of charge in all rooms by wired LAN.
Telephones are installed in each room of the residences except those on the Kasuga Campus. Phone calls between residences are free of charge. External lines can be obtained by making a contract.
How to make phone calls:
From any residence to the university via an internal line, dial 90 plus the last four digits.
From a university internal line to the Ichinoya Residence, dial 137 plus the last four digits.
From a university internal line to the Hirasuna/Oikoshi Residence, dial 137 plus the last four digits.
Those who wish to make external calls should contact the Student Residence Telephone System Company.
互聯(lián)網(wǎng)接入、電話
所有宿舍提供免費互聯(lián)網(wǎng)接入。
除了Kasuga校區(qū)宿舍，其他宿舍都安裝有電話。宿舍之間打電話免費。外部連接可通過合同獲得。
怎么撥打電話：
1.從學(xué)生宿舍到學(xué)校用內(nèi)部連接，撥打90加上最后四位數(shù)。

Garbage
You must separate the garbage according to the regulations of Tsukuba City, and dispose of it by 8 a.m. on the designated day and in the designated disposal bins. Detailed instructions on garbage disposal are provided in a file titled, "About sorted garbage collection" which you will find in your room when you move in. These rules do not change when you move out from the university residence halls into a private apartment in the city. Please do your best to keep the environment clean.
*Large-sized garbage collection requires a special reservation and is done for a charge.
*According to the law, the city does not collect television sets, refrigerators, washing machines and air conditioning units.
垃圾處理
根據(jù)筑波城的規(guī)定，必須將垃圾分類，并在指定日期的上午八點之前到指定垃圾箱將垃圾進(jìn)行處理。垃圾處理的詳細(xì)說明在宿舍名為“關(guān)于垃圾分類回收”的文件里有，住進(jìn)去的時候可以看到。這些規(guī)定是通用的，不管你是住在筑波大學(xué)宿舍，還是住在私人住宿。請盡量保持環(huán)境清潔。
*大型垃圾回收需要特殊保存，要收費。
*根據(jù)法律規(guī)定，筑波城不回收電視機、冰箱、洗衣機和空調(diào)機組。
Parking Lot
Students who want to bring their cars to the residence halls must pay a fee for the parking lot. If you wish to obtain a parking permit visit the Division of Student Welfare on the 3rd floor of the Student Plaza with your student ID card, driver's license, copies of your car's automobile inspection certificate (shaken shomeisho) and car insurance to apply.
If your application is approved, they will issue a parking permit to you. However, please note that there are cases where it may not be permitted due to the limited space in the parking lot (for family residences, only one car per family is allowed). As a rule, you are not allowed to use your car to commute to school from your student residence hall.
Students who do not have parking permits cannot park their cars in the residence areas.
停車場
想帶車進(jìn)學(xué)生宿舍的學(xué)生，需要交停車費。如果想獲得停車許可，請帶上學(xué)生證、駕照、汽車檢驗證書副本和汽車保險副本，到 Student Plaza 三樓的學(xué)生福利部申請。

二、OFF-CAMPUS HOUSING
校外住宿
There are a number of apartments near the campus. It is customary to pay a rental deposit (shikikin) and key money (reikin) totalling 1 to 2 months' rent, when finalizing a contract. Information is available at the Division of Student Welfare (Public Welfare, Student Residence Halls), located on the 3rd floor of Student Plaza.
Average rate: 35,000 to 50,000 yen (a six-mat room with kitchen, bath, toilet)

1.Guarantor
Normally, you need a guarantor (hoshonin) on a contract to rent a private apartment in Japan.
In order to make it easier for international students to find a guarantor and lessen the burden of psychological and economical responsibility on the guarantor, there is a service called "Comprehensive Renters Insurance for Foreign Students Studying in Japan."
Also, The University of Tsukuba Support Association for International Students holds joint and several liability for international students in order to lighten their burden of securing a joint guarantor for making a lease contract of a private apartment.
擔(dān)保人
一般而言，在日本住私房住需要有擔(dān)保人簽合同。
為了便于國際學(xué)生找擔(dān)保人，并減輕擔(dān)保人的心理負(fù)擔(dān)和經(jīng)濟(jì)責(zé)任，有一種服務(wù)叫“國外學(xué)生日本留學(xué)全面承租人保險”。
此外，筑波大學(xué)國際學(xué)生支援協(xié)會為國際學(xué)生負(fù)有連帶責(zé)任，以此方便他們找到連帶擔(dān)保人、簽租賃合同。
2.Service of Joint and Several Liability for a Lease Contract of a Private Apartment
The University of Tsukuba Support Association for International Students holds joint and several liability for international students in order to lighten their burden of securing a joint guarantor for making a lease contract of a private apartment, by examining the applicants for this service under certain conditions such as joining the “Comprehensive Renters Insurance for Foreign Students Studying in Japan” system.

三、CAMPUS LIFE
校園生活
The University of Tsukuba has a wide range of facilities on campus,including world-class sporting facilities. Numerous restaurants provide a range of great meal options, from ramen noodles to Italian food. We also have restaurants with vegetarian and halal options. We have a bakery which serves a wide range of freshly baked produce every day, and even a Starbucks coffee shop in the library.

Two second hand shops sell used electrical and other goods, allowing students to get a cheap microwave or refrigerator. We have a campus bookstore where students can buy stationary (books are generally Japanese only, with English textbooks available from our library), as well as an art supply store, convenience stores, a post-office, and even a travel agency.

The University also has an on-campus medical center, providing a wide variety of medical services to students. Each year, students are required to have a free physical examination.
The city has a wide variety of facilities, shops and recreational activities. There are several shopping centers; Q'T and Creo are in Tsukuba center, with Dayz Town a few minutes to the south. In 2008, a new shopping center, Iias, opened in kenkyugakuen, and in 2013, a new Aeon Mall opened in the south of town, both of which have cinemas. There is a large Costco store approximately 5 minutes from campus. Also in the south of town is Tsukuba Yuu-world, an entertainment complex with bowling, an indoor climbing wall, Japanese public baths, and a cinema. The town also has a wide range of supermarkets, speciality shops, electrical stores and home stores, so all your living needs can be found inside the city.
