UConn has a series of renewable merit scholarships for high school seniors with a record of high academic achievement and leadership. Students participating in the Guaranteed Admission Program also have a unique opportunity available through the President-to-President Scholarship.Incoming freshmen are automatically considered for most merit scholarships administered by the University of Connecticut with the exception of the Nutmeg and Day of Pride scholarships, which require a school counselor nomination. UConn Promise Grants are reserved for Hartford and New Haven Promise Scholars.Offers of merit scholarships are reserved for U.S. permanent residents and citizens and are generally awarded for fall semester entry.

Presidential Scholars Award for Valedictorians and Salutatorians
Available only to Connecticut students
Merit-based Scholarship (renewable for 4 years; valued at a fixed amount determined on a yearly basis) plus a one-time $2,500 Enrichment Award
Students who rank number one or two in their graduating class will be considered for the Presidential Scholars Award. An additional one-time Enrichment Award is made available to allow the Presidential Scholar to engage in educationally or professionally enriching activities. Priority consideration will be given to those who complete the application by December 1. To be eligible for nomination, the student must be a Connecticut resident graduating from a Connecticut high school.

The Nutmeg Scholarship honors the exceptional accomplishments of Connecticut high school seniors. All semifinalists and finalists in the National Achievement Scholarship Program, the National Hispanic Recognition Program, and the National Merit Semifinalist Competition, in addition to outstanding students from every Connecticut high school may be nominated to apply. Nominations will be made by the Guidance Counselor's Office at each Connecticut high school. To be eligible for nomination, the student must be a Connecticut resident graduating from a Connecticut high school. The undergraduate admissions application must be completed by November 1, 2016. Selection is highly competitive.
Day of Pride Scholarship
Available to Connecticut residents only
Full Scholarship (some restrictions may apply)
Day of Pride Scholarships are awarded to outstanding Connecticut high school seniors from disadvantaged backgrounds who have proven academic ability as demonstrated through high school grades, test scores, class rank, and letters of recommendation. In addition to a commitment to diversity and multiculturalism, demonstrated leadership, and contributions to their community, students should have documented financial need. Nominations will be made by the Guidance Counselor's Office at each Connecticut high school. To be eligible for nomination, the student must be a Connecticut resident graduating from a Connecticut high school. The undergraduate admissions application must be completed by November 1, 2016. Awards are based upon a very competitive selection process.

Stamps Scholars Award
Available to Connecticut residents only
Full Support Scholarship (tuition, room and board, fees, books, transportation, miscellaneous). Funding for enrichment experiences (up to $12,000 per student).
In 2006, philanthropists Penny and E. Roe Stamps IV began merit scholarship programs at their university alma maters. The success of those initial gifts led to partnerships with various universities across the nation, providing millions of dollars in support to high-achieving undergraduate students. The University of Connecticut is proud to be a Stamps Family Charitable Foundation partner.
Stamps Scholars Awards are awarded to exceptional Connecticut high school seniors. To be eligible for this award, students must be a resident of Connecticut and qualify for the Nutmeg or Day of Pride scholarship. Nutmeg and Day of Pride Scholars will be submitted for review by the University of Connecticut. Selected students will have a required interview with the Admissions staff and the Stamps Family Charitable Foundation. The undergraduate admissions application as well as all required documents for the Nutmeg or Day of Pride scholarship must be completed by November 1, 2016. Selection is highly competitive.
Students awarded the Stamps Scholars Award will be guaranteed admissions to UConn's highly selective Honors Program and have access to other opportunities such as the University Scholar Program, guidance for professional school admission (law and medicine/dental medicine), special cohort programs and support .

Students who rank in the top of their graduating class and/or have achieved a competitive high school grade point average with a minimum combined critical reading and math SAT and/or ACT Composite score determined by the Undergraduate Admissions Office will be considered for the Leadership Scholarship. In addition, students must have demonstrated a commitment to multicultural diversity programs and initiatives through their leadership, special talents, and achievements in school and/or community to qualify. Priority consideration will be given to those who complete the application by December 1.
STEM Scholarship
Available to in-state and out-of-state applicants
Merit-based Scholarship (renewable for 4 years; valued at a fixed amount determined on a yearly basis)
Students who rank in the top of their graduating class, have chosen to major in a STEM discipline, and have achieved a minimum combined critical reading and math SAT and/or ACT Composite score determined by the Undergraduate Admissions Office will be considered for a STEM Scholarship. Students must demonstrate extraordinary involvement in a STEM field. Scholarship recipients will be members of UConn’s Honors Program and STEM Scholars community. Priority consideration will be given to those who complete the application by December 1.

To be eligible, a student must be recognized as a New Haven Promise Scholar and gain admission to the University of Connecticut on their own merit. Recipients must enroll at UConn for the academic year immediately following graduation from New Haven Public Schools. Submission of the FAFSA by March 1 is required of all UConn New Haven Promise Grant recipients. UConn’s standard renewal criteria will apply to the UConn New Haven Promise Grant as detailed in the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy. The UConn New Haven Promise Grant cannot be combined with additional UConn scholarships awarded by Undergraduate Admissions. Students who are eligible for UConn Admissions scholarships that exceed the UConn New Haven Promise Grant will have the higher of the two award amounts applied as credit to their University bill. UConn Hartford Promise Grant

San Marcos Promise Scholarship
This scholarship is a renewable fixed amount for four years of full-time undergraduate study contingent upon meeting the terms and conditions set by the University and San Marcos Promise. To be eligible, a student must satisfy all PACE Promise academic benchmarks, be accepted to a STEM major as defined by UConn, and meet the criteria for admission as a STEM Scholar. Recipients must enroll at UConn for the academic year immediately following high school graduation. Submission of the FAFSA by March 1 is required of all San Marcos Promise Scholarship recipients. UConn’s standard renewal criteria will apply to the San Marcos Promise Scholarship as detailed in the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy. The San Marcos Promise Scholarship cannot be combined with additional UConn scholarships awarded by Undergraduate Admissions. Students who are eligible for UConn Admissions scholarships that exceed the San Marcos Promise Scholarship will have the higher of the two award amounts applied as credit to their University bill. President-to-President Scholarship
Available to Guaranteed Admission Program (GAP) Participants
Merit-based Scholarship (renewable for 2 years (4 semesters); valued at a fixed amount determined on a yearly basis)
Connecticut Community College students who are participants of the Guaranteed Admission Program (GAP), meet the criteria specific to their desired majors, and have earned an associate degree in a liberal arts transfer program will be considered for the President-to-President Scholarship. Students must be nominated by their community college GAP advisors, and approved by their respective community college president to qualify. Full-time enrollment at UConn is required of President-to-President Scholarship recipients.
