Although UCLA is one of the most transfer-friendly campuses in the UC system, competition for transfer openings has increased in recent years. Strong academic preparation and performance are primary elements in our admission decisions. The average GPA of transfer applicants who are admitted to UCLA is more than 3.5 ( though GPAs vary by program), and most students who are admitted have completed most or all of the preparatory coursework for their majors. We give highest priority to students who are transferring from California community colleges or other University of California campuses. All schools admit for the fall quarter only.

TRANSFER SELECTION
The transfer selection review considers academic, personal, and additional school/major-specific academic criteria.
Academic Criteria
Junior-level standing (60 semester/90 quarter transferable units completed) by the end of the spring term before you transfer.
GPA of 3.2 or higher earned in transferable courses.
Progress towards completion of major preparation requirements by spring prior to transfer (see below).
There may be additional lower division requirements that students can complete at their current institutions or at UCLA. Should a major not have specific prerequisites, we expect students to demonstrate interest in academic study by completing coursework related to the major.
Completion of the following course requirements by spring prior to transfer:
Two transferable courses in English composition/critical thinking and writing.
One transferable math course that has a prerequisite of intermediate algebra or higher.
Four transferable college courses in at least two of the following subject areas: arts and humanities, social and behavioral sciences, physical and biological sciences.

Listed below are the majors within the College of Letters and Science with links to the lower division preparatory courses for each. You should complete as many preparatory courses as possible prior to transferring, based on the availability of the courses at your current and/or local schools. California community college students are strongly encouraged to complete IGETC; all other transfer students are encouraged to make progress toward completion of the UCLA general education requirements.
Some majors are highly selective; for these we look for look for stronger preparation and the completion of most preparatory courses before transferring. Two transferable courses in English composition are required.
Mathematics
Calculus and analytic geometry, calculus of several variables, differential equations, and linear algebra.
Physics
Calculus-based courses with labs in mechanics of solids, vibration, wave motion, sound, fluids, heat, electricity and magnetism, electromagnetic waves, light, and relativity.
Chemistry
Two terms of general chemistry with lab.
Only one course in general chemistry is required for Electrical Engineering.
One year of chemistry with lab and two terms of organic chemistry are required for Bioengineering and Chemical Engineering.
Computer Science and Computer Science and Engineering do not require a chemistry course.
Computer Programming
One course in Java, C, ,C++, or Matlab.
Applicants to Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Science and Engineering should take C++. For all other majors, Matlab is preferred.
Biology
Applicants to Bioengineering: one year of biology with lab for the major (cellular, molecular, and genetic) is strongly recommended.
Additional Courses
Applicants must complete at least one course from the humanities or social sciences for UC eligibility and are encouraged to complete up to four courses in those areas and one life science elective. (Completion of IGETC or UC Reciprocity is not required/encouraged for entrance to these majors; partial IGETC will not be accepted.) Students may satisfy core requirements by completing engineering courses in statics, dynamics, strength of materials, properties of materials, and circuit analysis, depending on their major.

The UCLA School of Nursing offers the a prelicensure baccalaureate program leading to the Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.

PRELICENSURE PROGRAM
The Prelicensure Nursing degree program is intended to prepare entry-level nurses to care for patients at the bedside. Strong emphasis will be placed on clinical leadership and critical thinking skills. This is a three year program.

Theater
Both majors provide a comprehensive introduction to the history, theory, and practice of these art forms within the context of a liberal arts education.
Undergraduates in Theater study the history of world and American theater and drama, contemporary theater issues, acting and performance, play reading and analysis, design, directing, theater production, and complete a sequence of advanced courses in a specialization along with a senior project. Undergraduates in Film & Television study the history of film and television; screenwriting; film and television production, including cinematography, editing, directing the camera, and digital media and tools; and complete a senior concentration in one area of specialization and a professional internship.
Applicants to the school must have a minimum3.2 GPA at the time of application and by the time of entrance must have attained junior standing (60 semester/90 quarter units) and have completed their general education coursework. TRANSFER APPLICANT REVIEWERS
The Undergraduate Admission office reviews applicants to the College of Letters and Science. Applicants to the School of the Arts and Architecture; the Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science; the School of Nursing; and the School of Theater, Film and Television are reviewed by faculty members within the schools themselves. If you have additional questions regarding these programs, you should contact the schools directly.
