Complete the Princeton Financial Aid Application
The Princeton Financial Aid Application (PFAA) is free and easy to use for both U.S. and international applicants.
We recommend you read the instructions for applying for financial aid and review our tips for submitting the online application.
Upload a copy of your parents' 2015 tax return and W-2 statements
Once you submit the PFAA, you'll be able to upload tax documents. The required document can be uploaded one time in the appropriate document type field. If needed, you can use the "other" field for an additional upload.
The tax return upload should include the first two pages of the federal income tax return, all schedules, and W-2 statements.
If your parent(s) do not file a U.S. tax return, review the additional aid application requirements to determine which documents to upload.
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid
If you are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, you are required to submit a FAFSA as part of your aid application.
Make sure to include Princeton's Federal School Code, 002627, on the form to ensure we receive your completed FAFSA.
Submit non-custodial parent information
If your parents are divorced, separated or unmarried and living in separate households, and your custodial parent is not (re)married, you are required to complete the Non-custodial Parent Form or Non-custodial Parent Waiver Request Form in order to be considered for need-based aid at Princeton.

Postgraduate
Princeton University’s Graduate School is committed to supporting its Ph.D. students through a variety of funding sources. In general, the types of funding provided to regularly enrolled Ph.D. candidates consist of:
University, departmental, and program fellowships
Research and teaching assistantships
External financial support
Over the course of regular enrollment, it is common for a student to have their financial support provided by a combination of funding sources. In general, if a student receives a combination of financial support from the University in a given term or year, the tuition and stipend components of their total support are adjusted proportionately. If an external award is received, any University awards are adjusted accordingly.
While Princeton provides all of its first year Ph.D. students with fellowship funding to allow students to devote themselves full time to graduate study, funding for subsequent years of study varies by division.
