Sport scholarships
Nottingham Trent University offers a number of scholarship awards each year to student athletes from a range of different sports. Each award is individually tailored towards the needs of the athlete to ensure that everything is put in place to help them to achieve both academic and sporting success while at NTU, and subsequently enhance the University’s sporting profile and reputation.

The scholarship structure
The scholarship structure at NTU is made up of multiple tiers and each scholarship is awarded based on where you sit within the tier system.

There is also the Supported Athlete award where support is given to athletes deemed to make a significant impact on their sport. This is not performance dependant.
With each tier Scholars may be awarded a financial bursary, aimed to support the athlete in covering costs of studying alongside their training and competition schedules.

In order to qualify for a sport scholarship at NTU you must reach a particular level within your chosen sport.

If you are a current NTU student we are happy to accept applications as soon as your BUCS season has finished and the same process will apply.

(3)When do you need to apply?
Application to be an NTU Sport Scholar for the next academic year is all year round but we would encourage you to apply as soon as possible; if you are a prospective student for the next academic year we would encourage you to apply before, or soon after, you make your final UCAS choices. We work with three deadlines which will then determine the date before which you will receive a decision from us. The final deadline for any applications for the next academic year (starting in September) to be received is the end of August however we will aim to make the majority of scholarship allocations before this date.

We will aim to get back to you within two weeks of receiving your application and let you know of the next stage in the process. Your initial application might be followed up with an informal interview with our High Performance Sport Officer, or a trial process either prior to coming to NTU or during pre-season.

Keep us informed of your progress including any success, such as national/international selection
Be available for a number of press and PR opportunities over the course of the academic year
Wear University Sport Scholarship clothing as provided for NTU fixtures and other appropriate opportunities.

Sport scholarships
Nottingham Trent University offers a number of scholarship awards each year to student athletes from a range of different sports. Each award is individually tailored towards the needs of the athlete to ensure that everything is put in place to help them to achieve both academic and sporting success while at NTU, and subsequently enhance the University’s sporting profile and reputation.

The scholarship structure
The scholarship structure at NTU is made up of multiple tiers and each scholarship is awarded based on where you sit within the tier system.
The tier system is as follows:

There is also the Supported Athlete award where support is given to athletes deemed to make a significant impact on their sport. This is not performance dependant.
With each tier Scholars may be awarded a financial bursary, aimed to support the athlete in covering costs of studying alongside their training and competition schedules.
The amount that can be awarded in each tier is as follows:

Eligibility
To become an NTU Sport Scholar individuals must be currently enrolled on an undergraduate or postgraduate degree course at NTU, or in the process of applying to become an NTU student for the next academic year.
If you are on an NTU accredited course at the following colleges you may also be eligible to apply for a scholarship:

Sport specific criteria
In order to qualify for a sport scholarship at NTU you must reach a particular level within your chosen sport.
Postgraduate Scholarships
Postgraduate scholarships are assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Tuition fee waivers can be offered.
Financial bursaries can be offered in addition to the tiered undergraduate scholarships.
International Students
Postgraduate scholarships are assessed on a case-by-case basis.

(1)How do I qualify for a Sport Scholarship?
All NTU Sport Scholars must be enrolled on either an undergraduate or postgraduate degree course at Nottingham Trent University. Applications are also open anyone wishing to come and study at NTU from the following academic year.

Anyone wishing to apply for an NTU Sport Scholarship must complete a Scholarship application form . If you are a prospective NTU student and are thinking about applying, we would encourage you to contact us as soon as possible and complete the application form. We will then get back to you to let you know of the next stage in the process. If you are a current NTU student we are happy to accept applications as soon as your BUCS season has finished and the same process will apply.

(3)When do you need to apply?
Application to be an NTU Sport Scholar for the next academic year is all year round but we would encourage you to apply as soon as possible; if you are a prospective student for the next academic year we would encourage you to apply before, or soon after, you make your final UCAS choices. We work with three deadlines which will then determine the date before which you will receive a decision from us. The final deadline for any applications for the next academic year (starting in September) to be received is the end of August however we will aim to make the majority of scholarship allocations before this date.

(4)What happens after I have applied?
We will aim to get back to you within two weeks of receiving your application and let you know of the next stage in the process. Your initial application might be followed up with an informal interview with our High Performance Sport Officer, or a trial process either prior to coming to NTU or during pre-season.

(5)What is expected of NTU Scholars?
All NTU Scholars have the following obligations to:
Demonstrate a commitment towards academic studies
Fully commit to representing NTU in BUCS competitions, wherever possible
Meet with the NTU High Performance Sport Officer at least twice a term
Keep us informed of your progress including any success, such as national/international selection
Be available for a number of press and PR opportunities over the course of the academic year
Wear University Sport Scholarship clothing as provided for NTU fixtures and other appropriate opportunities.
