影片拍攝的時間有點早，黑白的，剛開始有點不習(xí)慣，不過隨著劇情的發(fā)展，直到最后結(jié)局，在意的卻也不是那看似陳舊的外在，而是影片中的東西，看到的也似乎只是影片中的東西。 影片結(jié)尾，瑪拉死了。在漆黑的夜色與慘白的燈光交映下死了。她的生命是如此的短暫，又是如此的充滿了不幸。如果說將她的不幸歸根于命運，則可能是最說不過去的理由，不過怕也是最不是理由的理由。因為命運本就是一個人一生發(fā)生了的和經(jīng)歷了的事，不管他該不該發(fā)生。
瑪拉的人生是不幸的，而這一切正是從遇見羅伊開始的。錯的時間遇上對的人。因此，從一開始相遇，似乎已注定了瑪拉悲劇的一生。從與羅伊相遇，并很快開心的準備與他結(jié)婚，羅伊卻被迫提前出發(fā)，到滿心緊張見羅伊的母親，卻意外看見羅伊陣亡的消息，到淪為應(yīng)召女郎在車站拉客卻看見生還的羅伊，這一系列的事仿佛就像上天和她開了一個又一個玩笑。瑪拉是這場玩笑的犧牲品，但又不僅僅是她。好友凱蒂是無辜的，她本可以留在劇院安心的跳芭蕾，最后找個人嫁了，過完自己平凡卻安定的一生，然而現(xiàn)實就是這樣，從凱蒂被卷入這場玩笑時，她的一生也已注定悲劇，可愛的人，可憐的人，當(dāng)命運一再苦苦緊逼時，她又能做什么呢?從為瑪拉仗義執(zhí)言而被辭退，到最后為瑪拉淪為
