TOEFL OR IELTS SCORES
Generally, admitted students have an Internet-based TOEFL score in the 95-105 range (587-620 on the paper-based test) or an IELTS score of 6.5-7.5. Our TOEFL test code is 1846. Please request that official IELTS scores be sent by paper to the Office of Admissions & Recruitment.
FRESHMEN: Freshman applicants from non-English speaking countries must submit a TOEFL or IELTS score, unless English was the language of instruction for all courses in all years of secondary school.
TRANSFER STUDENTS: Transfer applicants from non-English speaking countries must submit a TOEFL or IELTS score, unless they have completed a college level English composition course at a U.S. college or university.
If you feel that you qualify for a TOEFL or IELTS waiver based upon the requirements above, please submit all required transcripts to our office as soon as possible. Once your transcripts are marked as "Received" on your Student Center, please send an email to our office and a counselor will determine if the waiver criteria are met.

Grades
A minimum undergraduate grade-point average (GPA) of 3.00 on the equivalent of the last 60 semester hours (approximately two years of work) or a master’s degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 is required. Applicants from an international institution must demonstrate strong academic achievement comparable to a 3.00 for an undergraduate or master’s degree. All GPAs are based on a 4.00 scale. The Graduate School will use your institution’s grading scale. Do not convert your grades to a 4.00 scale.
Under certain circumstances, with program approval, admission may be granted with the following scores. However, in order to be admitted, an English assessment test (ESLAT) will be required upon arrival, and any recommended English as a Second Language (ESL) course must be completed successfully in your first semester. Below are the ranges in which an ESLAT will be required:
TOEFL (iBT) 80-91
TOEFL paper based 550-579
IELTS 6.5
MELAB 77-81
入學(xué)要求：
正規(guī)大學(xué)四-六年制本科畢業(yè)，取得學(xué)士學(xué)位
GPA不低于3.0，尤其是大三大四的專業(yè)課，以及研究生階段的課程成績(jī)更不得低于3.0，
TOEFL不低于92分，IELTS不低于7.0分，MELAB不低于82分，均無(wú)單項(xiàng)成績(jī)要求
擁有足夠的資金及其證明，申請(qǐng)時(shí)無(wú)需遞交——當(dāng)申請(qǐng)者的學(xué)術(shù)成績(jī)被確認(rèn)后，才由研究生院通知申請(qǐng)者遞交。2014年秋季要求國(guó)際學(xué)生至少準(zhǔn)備$44,761元的資金證明，該數(shù)目預(yù)計(jì)會(huì)逐年增加5%左右
注：威斯康辛麥迪遜開(kāi)設(shè)有ESL課程，如語(yǔ)言成績(jī)未達(dá)上述要求，但達(dá)到了下述標(biāo)準(zhǔn)仍可以向威斯康辛麥迪遜申請(qǐng)，但入學(xué)后必需參加由學(xué)校舉辦的英語(yǔ)評(píng)估考試。根據(jù)該考試成績(jī)?cè)贈(zèng)Q定需要讀的ESL課程類型及課程時(shí)數(shù)——未通過(guò)該考試，不會(huì)被要求退學(xué)。
