Research statement
Professor Servátka specializes in experimental and behavioral economics. His research agenda, combining theory with laboratory and field experiments, focuses on (1) formation of informal agreements which are capable of fostering trust and cooperation in the absence of written contracts, (2) firm boundaries, (3) links between governance structure and wage compression, (4) effects of status quo in economic decision making, and(5) procrastination in charitable giving. His research has been published in European Economic Review, Experimental Economics, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Journal of Economic Psychology, Journal of Public Economics, among others. He currently serves on the editorial review board of Journal of Behavioral and Experimental Economics.
Contribution to management practice
Professor Maro? Servátka is the Founder of Slovak Economic Association, the first professional association gathering Slovak economists and past President (2012-14). He currently serves on the executive committee of the association and organizes biannual Bratislava Economic Meetings. He is a regular speaker at the prestigious Ronald Coase Institute Workshops on Institutional Analysis.
