Newcastle. 它的語言學的排名是第三，僅次于牛津、劍橋。
由于它的語言學太強了，它對申請者的要求也相應地來說最高，比Bath還高，而且它只接受雅思成績。
它的語言要求到雅思要求到7.5，單科不低于7.0，而且必須要面試。除此之外，它還需要申請者的二外達到expert水平，即精通。
Newcastle的Simultaneous Interpretation隸屬于School of Modern Languages(現代語言系)，這個系下屬十二個專業(yè)(International Film: History, Theory and Practice MA and PGDip;Interpreting MA(兩年制，第一年是Graduate Diploma, 若滿足了入學條件，則進入第二年的MA課程，目標是在市場、商業(yè)、科技、國際關系和傳媒方向的翻譯);

Translation Studies MA(傾向于研究方面，要學兩年，第一年只能拿一個Diploma，若符合條件才能進入下一年的MA課程)，可見其語言學方面的強勢。而我們要申請的Simultaneous Interpretation在Translating Graduate Diploma里，而不是MA，而要得到MA，則要在Translating Graduate Diploma之后再讀MA Translating and Interpreting課程。
而這個Diploma課程的入學要求是：You need a BA degree with a minimum average of 75 per cent (or GPA 2.75) on your transcript or an upper-second-class Honors degree or higher. Non-degree holders, such as holders of Junior College Diplomas, should have three years’ relevant work experience. Native speakers of Chinese or Japanese require an English language score of at least IELTS 7.0, with no less than 6.0 in any one skill. 口語和寫作不低于6.5。
