美國(guó)寄宿中學(xué)申請(qǐng)一般截止在每年的的一、二月份截止，最重要的是跟同學(xué)們要一對(duì)一的面談。目前這段時(shí)間，很多美國(guó)較優(yōu)秀的寄宿中學(xué)都已經(jīng)陸續(xù)開始發(fā)出面談通知。
美國(guó)寄宿中學(xué)面談的形式有幾種，最直接的當(dāng)然就是邀請(qǐng)申請(qǐng)人和家長(zhǎng)到美國(guó)學(xué)校做一個(gè)正式的參觀訪問，同時(shí)在訪問的前后預(yù)約和招生老師一對(duì)一的面談。除了我們經(jīng)常說的十大常青藤名校之外，大部分學(xué)校并沒有到校面談的硬性規(guī)定。當(dāng)然如果申請(qǐng)人對(duì)面談比較有自信，最好能夠親自到美國(guó)學(xué)校面談，因?yàn)槟憧梢岳眠@個(gè)機(jī)會(huì)對(duì)學(xué)校的老師及同學(xué)情況多一點(diǎn)了解，同時(shí)也讓校方知道你對(duì)他們學(xué)校的濃厚興趣和你申請(qǐng)的決心。
面談時(shí)，最重要的當(dāng)然是你給學(xué)校的第一印象，所以穿著要注意，最好能夠正裝出席。尤其對(duì)學(xué)生的服裝有嚴(yán)格要求的學(xué)校，你可以穿的比他們學(xué)校的學(xué)生更加正式。美國(guó)人很注重第一印象，除了穿著打扮之外，國(guó)際禮儀一定要注重。例如主動(dòng)問候，抬頭挺胸，說話時(shí)口齒清楚，并面帶笑容等，都是很重要的細(xì)節(jié)。面談的問題大多是圍繞在你的學(xué)習(xí)生活和課外活動(dòng)，有時(shí)會(huì)問到你的理想或目標(biāo)等等， 這些都是比較容易準(zhǔn)備的。需要注意的是，大多面談老師在結(jié)束前都會(huì)問你有沒有什么問題。如果你客氣的說沒有，那這個(gè)面談就此結(jié)束，但是我們建議同學(xué)在面談前，最好都先準(zhǔn)備好至少1-2個(gè)問題，因?yàn)檫@個(gè)問題，可以代表你對(duì)他們學(xué)校的了解和興趣。如果問得好，可以給老師留下深刻的印象，甚至有加分的作用。
雖然面談時(shí)學(xué)校已經(jīng)有你的申請(qǐng)資料了，有時(shí)面談老師會(huì)給你一篇小作業(yè)讓你當(dāng)面發(fā)揮，在你專心寫作的同時(shí)，老師可以和父母單獨(dú)交談，看看他們是否有什么問題需要和學(xué)校交流。
面談后很重要的是，離開學(xué)校后，最好在1天內(nèi)給面談的老師寫封感謝信，email，傳真或郵寄都可以，重點(diǎn)是要再次表達(dá)你對(duì)此校的興趣，同時(shí)感謝面談老師給你的機(jī)會(huì)和介紹(或老師給你的建議)等等。
