Odyssey Scholarships
Families with incomes below $90,000 a year will have their federal student loan obligation reduced or eliminated with grants from UChicago.
Thanks to an extremely generous gift of $100 million from an anonymous alumnus, we are now able to offer an even more competitive financial aid package to many of our students. The Odyssey program has allowed more students from modest backgrounds the ability to pursue all that the University has to offer without the worries of working to pay off loan debt. For students with family incomes below $75,000 a year, all expected federal student loans are replaced with Odyssey Scholarships. For students with family incomes between $75,000 and $90,000, half of their expected federal student loan obligation is replaced with Odyssey Scholarships. You must apply for need based financial aid in order to be considered for this need-based University funded scholarship.

UChicago Promise is the University of Chicago’s pledge to help increase college access and readiness for Chicago high school students. Merit Scholarships
Exemplary students are selected to receive merit scholarships that are guaranteed for four years of study.
Our merit scholarships are among the oldest in the country, and are awarded to applicants on the basis of outstanding academic and extracurricular achievement, demonstrated leadership, and commitment to their communities. Merit awards are determined by Faculty Committee and the Office of College Admissions without consideration of financial need, and are guaranteed for four years of undergraduate study.
To be considered for a merit scholarship, simply check the box on the Common Application that reads “Do you intend to apply for merit-based scholarships?” All first-year applicants are eligible; unfortunately transfer applicants are not. Scholarship winners will receive notification of their awards on a rolling basis through the end of April. Please note that only scholarship winners are notified.

Chicago Police and Fire Scholarship
Full scholarships are available to children of active Chicago Fire Fighters and Police Officers.
To be considered for a full-tuition scholarship, candidates must qualify for admission to the University of Chicago and be children (or legally adopted children) of sworn Chicago Fire Fighters and Chicago Police Officers who will remain active for the duration of their children’s college careers. Students whose parents lost their life in the line of duty are also eligible for the scholarship.
