Community college entering students are awarded with a 3.5 GPA or better
Continuing students are awarded with a 3.5 GPA or better
The amount of the scholarship is based on your level of financial need. Students with financial need and below the 3.5 GPA threshold are awarded a University Grant.
Cal Opportunity Scholarship
UC Berkeley's faculty established the Cal Opportunity Scholarship in 2000 with the goal of attracting to Berkeley high-achieving students from local high schools in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The Incentive Awards Program (IAP) provides up to $32,000 in scholarship funds over eight semesters, and student support services to low-income, first-generation college students who have demonstrated leadership potential, high academics, and a commitment to serve others.
On July 1, 2013, California Governor Jerry Brown signed legislation creating the Middle Class Scholarship program, aimed at making higher education more affordable to middle-income families.
