They went off but she remained three days in that country.

The weather remains cold and wet.
天氣依然寒冷潮濕。
Pollution in the city remains a problem.

You can’t let your room remain like this.
你不能讓房間一直這樣。
①He remained silent at the meeting.在會上他一言不發(fā)。
②His books remain very new because he hardly read them。他的書仍然很新，因為他幾乎沒讀。
對比：remain既指人逗留在一定場所，也指物逗留在一定場所或保持原來的形狀或狀態(tài)，或暗示縱使別人離去，自己仍然留下來。Stay會話用語，只表示人逗留在一定場所
e.g. Let’s stay here until he appears.
讓我們留下來等他到來。
拓展：remaining adj.剩下的the remaining money = the money left剩余的錢
remainings n.(復(fù)數(shù))剩余(物)，殘骸，遺跡
the remains of ancient Rome 古羅馬的遺跡
the remainder(of)=the rest(of)剩下的東西/其余的人
remain;stay
remain vi.逗留、保持;指人(也可指物)逗留在一定的場所，也指物保持原來的形狀或狀態(tài)。
stay 逗留;僅指人(不可用物)逗留在一定場所。
How many weeks shall you remain/stay here?你將在此地停留多久?
I shall remain/stay to see the end of the game.我將留下來看比賽的結(jié)果。
Let it remain as it is .聽其自然.
It remained unharmed.它仍然無損。
remain+表語(名詞、形容詞、不定式、分詞和分詞短語)意為“保持……、仍是……”
作“剩下、遺留”講，用remain。如：
after the fire, nothing remained to the house.大火過后，屋子所剩無幾。
If you take two from four, two remains.四減二剩二。
