首先需要激活學(xué)生賬號：
步驟1查詢學(xué)生郵件，找到內(nèi)容如下的郵件：
Dear ** ,
……To track the progress of your application, please log on to myUM (www.myum.miami.edu) to view pending/received items. You can use your UM ID to easily create a myUM account if you have not already created a myUM account. Your UM ID is: C******** ……
步驟2 登陸網(wǎng)址，www.myum.miami.edu 輸入學(xué)生郵件里學(xué)校所給的UM ID和出生年月日。
步驟3 輸入UMID和生日后會顯示一個有每個學(xué)生CAN ID的頁面。
步驟4 需要輸入自己設(shè)定的New Password。
步驟5 頁面顯示要選擇一個密碼保護(hù)問題以增強(qiáng)密碼的保護(hù)性，防止其他人盜用密碼。”Create Security Question and Answer”。日后如果忘記密碼也可用這個密碼保護(hù)問題找回密碼。
步驟6 如果看到該頁面，說明你已成功激活學(xué)生賬戶。點(diǎn)擊Admissions下的View your Admissions Decision Letter 可以清楚地看到自己的錄取狀態(tài)。
示例二Columbia University 查詢錄取狀態(tài)步驟：
一．查郵件
在線提交申請后30天內(nèi)會收到一個郵件給出查詢的網(wǎng)址，里面給出了 Application PIN Number，Application ID Number，并指出可以開始查詢的時間，提前批在2009年11月10日后，正常批在2010年2月10日后可以開始查詢。

二．查詢步驟
進(jìn)入www.studentaffairs.columbia.edu/admissions/ 鏈接后點(diǎn)擊Application & Admission Process – First year Admission， 打開頁面后點(diǎn)擊右面 Tracking your Application online，在 Application Tracking and Student Loan Entrance/Exit Interview下面填入 Application ID 和 Date of Birth。進(jìn)去后就可以看到申請材料是否收到的明細(xì)，包括什么時間收到了什么材料。
三．查詢錄取結(jié)果
1.到公布錄取結(jié)果之前會再收到一封相關(guān)郵件，如下所示：
…… You may request that a copy of your decision letter be mailed to you after you receive it online; further instructions will be available when you check your decision. We plan to post all decisions here on Thursday, December 10, 2009, after 5:00pm (Eastern Time). ……
2.查錄取結(jié)果請點(diǎn)擊郵件第一段的here，轉(zhuǎn)到鏈接https://app.applyyourself.com/?id=COL-U，在右上角輸入郵件中收到的PIN 和 申請時創(chuàng)建的 password。
