臘梅的拉丁學(xué)名有著自己的來(lái)歷：
Chimonanthe précoce ou Chimonanthe odorant,（ Chimonanthus praecox, Chimonanthus fragrans ）
Étymologie :
Chimonanthus vient du grec cheimon, qui signifie "hiver", et anthos, "fleur", autrement dit "qui fleurit en hiver", et c'est bien le cas de cet arbuste.
Praecox est un mot latin qui est devenu "précoce", en référence à la floraison hivernale.
“蠟梅”（通常不寫(xiě)成“臘梅”）與梅花分屬于不同的科，蠟梅本身構(gòu)成蠟梅科，也構(gòu)成蠟梅屬。根據(jù)上述梅花應(yīng)采用漢語(yǔ)拼音的原則，蠟梅也可以參照其拉丁學(xué)名«Chimonanthus praecox(Linné) Link» 翻譯成«Lameihua»、 «Chimonanthe» (prononcer Kimonante)或«Chimonanthe précoce»、«Chimonanthe odorant»。
